You don’t understand.Nor do they judge territory by distance. Nor do they judge territory by distance. Just like the Spratly Islands is 1200 km away from China. It is too far to belong to China. Guam is 9,500 km from the United States, and it is definitely a U.S. territory.
You can only call islands as yours when you occupy it. By civilians or by troops. Not like China, they claim the islands and the seas as theirs although they never set a foot on it. Nor occupying the islands. Ok except chinese smugglers came there in ancient times.
Guam is occupied and annexed by the US thus the US say it’s theirs.
It’s the same for Hainan in China or Phu quoc in Vietnam.
