Definitely a strange customs in S. Korea.
Vietnamese only kneel to gods, Buddha, ancestors and parents.

Out if curiosity, can Asians tell the difference among themselves whether someone is Chinese, Japanese, Korean etc by just looks?

Forget Asians even random person like me can tell a difference between Korean/Northern Chinese and someone from HK or those tropical areas of SC

I struggle between Koreans and Japanese - can tell them apart in movies but IRL it's a struggle
What I noticed (I might be wrong) that japanese looked a bit more like Mongols compared to Koreans

I can easily tell the differences between Han Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese. But as for Han Chinese and Koreans, not so much.

I think people from all over the world, including Koreans themselves, know kowtow is a self-humiliation gesture. George Macartney, as the embassador of UK, visited China in 1792, He refused to kowtow to Qing emperor Qianlong.

Kowtowing isn't a self humiliating gesture depending on who you are kowtowing to.
Bowing isn't a problem,it's the kowtow, from Chinese idol perspective,it's ridiculous to kowtow before a random Korean audience in Korean cultural way, she's chinese after all.

My people also bow deep by touching head to the ground but, only to our grandparents, parents, dead ancestors and god.

Asian is varied though, even in Japan you can see brown skin Japanese but majority is white skin.

East Asian is more common to each other. South East Asian is rather different

Indonesian and her Japanese husband

It depends. There is obviously a lot of overlap but it’s pretty easy to tell just looking at the mannerisms. Japanese/Koreans/northern Chinese have more overlap. There is a distinct southern Chinese look that has more austronesian influence where it is easy to tell they are from Hong Kong, guangdong, guangxi Taiwan etc but even in those places you get a lot of overlap with northern Chinese.

Some Japanese also have jomon or Ainu blood that makes them look somewhat mixed race, so that’s a unique look that isn’t really found in Korea or China. Then there are okinawans who have more austronesian admixture. But that’s probably only ten percent of japan.

Usually when an East Asian is very tall, they are typically northern Chinese or Korean, although some southern Chinese can be very tall too.
I can easily tell the differences between Han Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese. But as for Han Chinese and Koreans, not so much.
Between northern Chinese and Koreans there is a huge overlap. Not so much for southern Chinese and Koreans. Cantonese look very different on the whole than Koreans for example. Northern Chinese have a Siberian element that is very rare among southern Han.

Actually it’s the other way around, Koreans have more Mongolian blood ties, they probably split off from the same tribe ten thousand years ago. Japanese have jomon or Ainu admixture and that’s what makes them unique.

The Chinese only kowtow to heaven and earth and their parents. With one exception, the Chinese can kowtow to the dead.
If he is not a Chinese's parents, he also accepted a kowtow from the Chinese, which means that the Chinese is cursing him for dying. According to Chinese custom, this is called "折寿".

What about xi?

Indian kowtow to parents/family elders/party leaders and to brahmin priests. No wonder they remain as beggars.

I mean look into the mirror and tell us if you think you could be Chinese, Japanese or Korean.
That should answer your own question.
