Chinese jet fighters, an option to re-equip the Argentine Air Force

Most here fail to see the actual situation.

Why would Argentina need JF-17 in the first place?

bear in mind, Argie government is not the.same junta government in 82, they are not stupid...and they know whatever they do, the Brits can match it move by move , and then some.

I.would say yeah, they would need low end fighter if they are up against Fellow.SA Airforces but you are talking about The RAF...Which field Typhoon and F35 in the future. I would not want to go near a typhoon with an F16 block 52, let alone JF17...And whatever argie is fielding, The UK have more money to counter it.

The only way Argentine can hold out an opponent like the RAF is by acquiring 5th gen fighter, which is more or less impossible for now.

JF-17 is better than any British fighter jet. Which British fighter jet has DSI? None. 8-)

Argentina almost beat Britain in Falklands war with only 4 Exocets. If Argentina has 400 YJ-12s that would scare Brits. :o:

Argentina is hostile to Britain and Pakistan cannot sell anything to a country that is hostile to Britain. But, China can. :china:

Argentina operates:

Two squadrons of A-4AR (Fightinghawk) ground-attack aircraft: a major upgrade of the 1950's subsonic McDonnel Dougls A-4M Skyhawk attack aircraft, specifically developed for the Argentine Air Force, which entered service in 1998. Argentine Air Force technicians chose 32 A-4M (built between 1970/1976) and 4 TA-4F airframes from the AMARC in Tucson, Arizona to upgrade. At least ten TA-4J and A-4M airframes are for use as spare parts. The name Fightinghawk was chosen in recognition of the F-16 Fighting Falcon, which was the source of many of the new avionics.

One squadron of IAI Finger. These are Daggers equipped with new avionics and HUD systems to take them to the Kfir C.2 (and beyond in some subsystems) standard. Dagger is essentially the Argentinian name for the IAI Nesher, the Israeli version the Dassault Mirage 5 multi-role fighter aircraft.

Why not the South Korean KAI FA-50? That should be an improvement over the A-4s in all respects and over the Mirages at least in terms of combat radius. The FA-50 aircraft can carry a weapons load of up to 4.5t, similar to the load carried by the Mirages/ Fingers. The lightweight but capable Israeli Elta EL/M-2032 mechanically scanned pulse Doppler radar, originally intended for the ill-fated Lavi program., has a range of over 60 miles and is capable of supporting beyond visual range weapons. At $35 million a pop, the FA-50 is a bargain for the capabilities it offers. Plus the aircraft has operating costs that are a fraction of that of other modern fighters.

Would you care to explain (e.g. not allowed by whom?) and substantiate (i.e. provide example to support your claim)

Besides, 'hostile' is not the word most informed people would use to describe the current state of Argentinian-UK relations.

You were pretty hot and heavy about the Scottish referendum. You are aware of the Falklands referendum?
