Chinese goods boycott hitting traders on tepid retail demand

NEW DELHI: The social media campaign to boycott Chinese goods during Diwali has beaten down sentiment of retail traders as there has been a 20 per cent decline in demand so far, traders body CAIT said today.

Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal said that Chinese lighting and decorative products are widely used during Diwali and such materials start flooding the Indian markets three months prior to the festive season. "There has been a debate in social media on boycotting Chinese product.

These products are already with the wholesalers but there has been a 20 per cent decline in demand from the retail traders as they are worried whether people will actually buy it or not," he said. There has been a social media call for boycott of Chinese goods in India following that country's opposition to a UN ban on JeM chief Masood Azhar as well Beijing obstructing India's membership in the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG).

Khandelwal said CAIT will go with the mood of the people and honour their calls for ban on Chinese products. "We expect that the goods which are in stock with the wholesalers will get sold over time, otherwise a lot of cash of traders will get stuck," he said.

. . . . . .
It is not about china. Its about how you people have started thinking. You are the whole world in your opinion. Go ahead, boycott everything.
India is not talking on anyone's behalf unlike Pakistanis.
It's a boycott to give opportunity to local Indian vendors..There are many Chinese options to boycott if we had such mentality rather than boycotting firework imports for Diwali..

Yeah stay delusional. Works for us.
hehe , laughable perception you have . though it is understandable .
on topic : this is just the beginning for china , Indian government has massive plans to cut import from china in coming decade (MII will play crucial part for that purpose ) . recently , many initiatives were taken to cut imports from china namely raw material used in medicine industry , which will bear the fruits for domestic industry and economy in coming decade . WTF need to import from china anything if same can be made in Bharat easily . it was previews governments specially anti Bharat political party khangress alias indian national congress , which ruined domestic industry for many decades as their focus was just to rule the country as their priorities were never pro Bharat and her development . as i said earlier , china is on the hit list of my government but pakistan and time will tell the rest of the story . bye for now

Modi wasn't ruling you for 70 years. This extremist approach has been getting stronger recently. Lets see where it takes you.
Modi won't rule India forever but would put India to a very good stage no doubt..
Just think how many friends had supported you in UN or outside of UN in support of Kashmir except giving some dubious statements..
Eh but according to Pakistanis we are isolated..Delusional
