Japan is offering less then 1% for 15 billion , may Sri Lankans are not good in bargaining , but for 2 billion they are asking for 2% interest rate its kinda more .

Anyone knows at wat rate Chinese are giving money to Pakistan for their corridor ??

my two cents --- maybe SL citizens feel SL has a better investment environment currently than - say - Pakistan (relatively) or even slightly better than India as well. so Maybe be SL feels they should get a better deal than Pakistan (@1.6% for the CPEC)? (however, Pakistan has a strategic relationship with China - hence the favorable treatment)

Who will invest 2B in SL in a single go? And the reason for such high 2%. We have to take this into account. The repayment or profit from such ventures might be painfully slow.

Wasn't too long ago Sri Lanka offered to let China run the airport? or port? in leu of the repayments because the projects lacked the projected returns.

Exactly bro..

And India provided loans to BD, Afghanistan at 1%. However the Bottomline is , if Chinese are investing an huge amount like 20B, then 2% interest is justifiable. Its a risk they are taking.
