Progress, as they say, comes fast.

CRH380A EMU. Top speed = 486.1 km/h (302.0 mph). Cruising speed = 380 km/h (236 mph). Current service speed = 300 km/h (186 mph)

Here is a photo of the trains under construction:

It's hard for anything to match the sleek minimalist beauty of an airplane or a missile, but these trains achieve it well.

The CIT500 experimental EMU. The body is made almost entirely of carbon fiber composites. It has a designed cruising speed of 500km per hour (310 miles per hour). It will not enter service, however, as it's intended as a technology demonstrator.

I've never seen this kind of HSR in operation, what's the type?

It looks like an eagle's nose...

Just like a conceptual car maybe. Ministry of Railways must be conservative toward new higher speed train since the accident in 2011. Actually, 300km is enough for current demand. I cannot imagine this picture when a 500km/hr train roaring by...

.
The CRH6 EMU. Top speed = 250 km/hour. Used for shorter hops between regional centers.
