Chinese army inducts Type 15 lightweight tank

China's Ministry of National Defence (MND) revealed on 27 December that the Type 15 (also commonly referred to as ZTQ-15) lightweight battle tank has officially entered service with the People's Liberation Army Ground Force (PLAGF).

During a press conference in Beijing, MND spokesperson Senior Colonel Wu Qian said, "As for the Type 15 lightweight tank, according to my information, it has been handed over to our troops" . No further details were provided.

The announcement came after an image emerged on Chinese online forums in July suggesting that the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) may also be equipping its marine corps with the locally developed tank.

There are a few regions where armored thrust can help but over all kashmir is an infantry and mountain division region. Also putting new deadly weapons on kashmir front would intensify war. Kashmir needs peace. Unlike international border people live on the boundary of loc half of the town is on pakistani side and half is on pakistani side there is no border or markings. Not suitable for LOC except for a select few regions which are plain, and have less populations.

Why one need tanks in mountains?? APC / IFVs are good to transport with safety in mountains of Kashmir, why tank?? Instead APC/IFV mounted 120mm mortar will be more effective.

I think this tank is promising. Pakistan army should try it out in GB and Ajk let the chinese show us what it can do... If it is used ib tibet and yunan i think its perfect for GB & afghan border atleast.

The performance of ZTQ-15 lightweight tank in mountains exceeds obviously the expectation of PLA Army, and there will be only ZTQ-15, ZTZ-99A, and their upgraded-version tanks in PLA Army in the future.
