SHANGHAI, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- China's first domestic regional jetliner ARJ21-700 was delivered Thursday after its mass production was certified in July.

The ARJ21-700 jetliner has 90 economy seats and was bought by China Aerospace Leasing Company, and delivered to Chengdu Airlines.

The Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) obtained a production license to build the airliner from the General Administration of Civil Aviation.

COMAC has received orders for 433 of the jetliners from 20 clients so far. The company plans to deliver five ARJ21-700 jetliners by the end of the year.

China has in recent years sped up efforts to build its commercial aircraft. Besides the ARJ21-700, COMAC has also made the larger C919 jet, a narrow-body jumbo designed to rival the updated Airbus A320 and the new Boeing B737.

It has also set up a joint venture with a Russian state company to build wide-body passenger jets.

. . . .
Looks like it could have military use as well
Of course,if they want to.as we all know that china is doing its best to boost the development of arj21-700 indicated above and another one C919 and C929 still in trial test and paper but if we check the history we would find out there is no real diffrence between civil and military aircrafts.
Why USA is so strong in aircrafts coz Boeing is strong in civil aircrafts!!!!Same thing for Europe.
And Now China, I am pretty sure China and Pakistan air force would be more and more powerful!!!!!

Sounds ok but not cheap. VietJet recently buys 180 jets both airbus 320/321 and Boeing 737 variants with more than $100 million apiece, but the jets have more than 200 seats.

This is good products with good quality like China High speed railway there is no place for low price strategy!!!
But still the cheapest among all the same level aircrafts!

ARJ21-700 is 30 millions USD with 90 seats as said above it is regional jetliner
it is not fair to compare it with Boeing and Airbus trunkliners!!
Better to see how C919 and C929 can do in the near future!

China ARJ21-700 Unit cost US $30 million as of 2015 (currently three in service)
The unit cost isn't the decisive factor to commercial customers. Commercial passenger planes no longer attract sales by their "wow" factor; they are wealth instruments where investors look at financing arrangements, maintenance costs, amortization, insurance, and expected income. The less of a record a manufacturer and its product have, the more risky the investment will be considered, the higher the insurance and some other costs will be, and so the Chinese product will have to be priced less than the Western equivalent in order to compete.

Compete for what ? I think the main idea is t ensure the safety under the shadow of USA sanctions once they decided not allow china buy any commercial planes from boeing o airbus, china is over, see Iran is banned to buy aircrafts whatsoever,USA is a sanction superpower, even it is expensive,China will still choose to buy it own products coz usa thinks everyone not like themselves should be considered as enemies.

The funny thing is USA FAA will not issue lisence to ARJ 21-700 or C919 for sure
and they will accuse China Trade protection for buying its homedmade aircrafts!!!!!

FAA only cares about safety, not economics. As long as Chinese aircraft meet US safety standards, the aircraft will get their license.

If China mandates that Chinese airline buy only Chinese-made aircraft, this will definitely be an issue, not only with US, but other countries as well. But I doubt this will happen. It’s in the best interest of Chinese airlines to seek the best aircraft, at the best price. This means having more options on the table, not less.

This aircraft doesn't compete with Boeing or Airbus but manufacturers like Embraer (Brazil) and Bombardier (Canada).

Bigger planes are always more economical IF they can be filled.

True and I hope Embraer and Bombardier are moving to bigger planes and leave the market for regional jets to ARJ.
