China's first mission to the Red Planet
China's space exploration program has taken another step with the launch of its Mars mission. The Tianwen-One comprises an orbiter, a lander and a rover. So what awaits the probe on the Red Planet?

First mission to Mars? Yinghuo-1 was the first mission which was declared lost and fallen into ocean in 2011/2012... and it took 9 years to get back on its feet and launch again? why it took so long?

That's a Russian failure, beside, our priority is never on Mars, Beidou navigation system, Moon landing and space station are our priorities, that's why we piggybacked Russian rocket last time, China rarely use foreign carriers, it was a just half hearted experiment.

its a thought in the aftermath...since its failed its a Russian failure....

but yes, everyone has a priority and that must be followed... to show even you can go to Mars and has setup of deep space communicated needs guts of steel... reactivating the mission after deep freeze for almost 8 months and then capturing in Mars orbit will be the real challenge....

Indian Mangalyaan was actually on the dark side of Mars (other side which was not facing Earth when it was captured in Mars orbit)

wishing all the best to this mission....

Because China decided to launch Mars probe by its own rocket after that failure.

Why didn't you do that in the first place?
It's sideline corporation project with Russia.
Yinghuo-1 is a small probe(115 kg) designed to take a ride with Russian Mars probe.

We didn't have the capability to send 5 ton+ payloads to Mars back to 2011. China's deep space program depends on our new rocket LM-5.

Because we don’t need send 13kg payload to mars to prove ourselves

Or like modi to buy votes

for a country soft landed on the moon, twice and send man to space back in 2003 and send space stations, u think we don’t have capacity to do that? Lol, we are that desperate like Indians

Doing the Viking strategy

I never thought China would be compared to US. Times have changed indeed.

Mangalyaan was an orbiter, basically just a Chandrayaan probe sent using a primitive PSLV. You are comparing PSLV with the LM5. Only an idiot will think they are the same. The reason you can reach Mars is because of NASA Deep Space Network support. Now China is doing it all by ourselves.
