In fact, Pakistan’s relationship with China will likely deteriorate over the next few years as these sorts of attacks continue to target Chinese citizens. The continued recurrence of such attacks and Pakistan’s failure to end such attacks are frustrating the Chinese and their rhetoric is getting progressively harsh.
China might also decrease the level of engagement and investments its making in Pakistan, CPEC will most certainly be impacted.
“The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan on Saturday “strongly condemned” a suicide attack targeting a vehicle carrying Chinese nationals in Balochistan's Gwadar district on Friday, asking Pakistan “to take practical and effective measures” to prevent recurrence of such incidents in future.”
‘Punish the perpetrators’: China presses Pakistan for ‘practical measures’ after Gwadar attack
“Pakistan must conduct a thorough investigation on the attack and severely punish the perpetrators,” says China.www.dawn.com
Highly unlikely. The Chinese have anticipated such moves as the enemies of Pakistan have been thoroughly and comprehensively kicked out of Afghanistan. They know CPEC is the target of both the enemies of Pakistan and China. Hence they will not let them win as we did not let them win and thoroughly defeated them in Afghanistan. In a worst case scenario, CPEC may be slightly delayed. Nothing more. The importance of CPEC to both Pakistan and China can never be underestimated.
