Assimilation is no problem. They miraculously quickly pick up Chinese. I did not see a single mixed-family in which others could speak Vietnamese.

Oftentimes they end up getting married, or set up informal relationships. Cute, little babies are made, but I am not sure they are recognized as Taiwan citizens.

I am sure it is similar in Mainland. In a sense, this is regional integration under Sinosphere.

I did not see even a single case of locals learning Vietnamese. I have gone to cram schools in which mixed kids are present. They all speak fluent Mandarin.

Even in Laos and Cambodia, Most wealthier Viets send their kids to learn Chinese in Chinese school because Vietnamese school offer them no future.
