First of all, China will have offshore force in the near future.
However, the most important task for Strategic Bombers is NUCLEAR attack.
China needs red B-2 and even more advanced bombers to achieve the ability to wipe US out from earth, which is important for the re-balance of the world.

Now Chinese nuclear force is not the strongest, at least the US people are not scared enough, so the development of Chinese strategic force is not strange at all.

Is there any country in the world that is facing a threat that only China can deter, that no alternatives are available, and that would make China a desirable military long duration presence in that country? Not likely because that would violate China's declared policy of non-interference. The stationing of long duration garrisons constitute interference, even minimally, because China effectively took a side in a geopolitical disagreement.

It's a new world, we need change. The non-interference policy will also be abandoned by future Chinese government. The changing of Chinese diplomatic policy is clear in recent month.

You are talking about some common sense of nuclear war, everybody knows that.

China has also been preparing for nuclear strike since threatened by US with atomic bombs in Korean War. We have big public shelter instead of small ones for each family. There's a big one in my university. Many of the shelters have been built in the Mao years, and more are still under construction together with each public building.

I agree with you that what's important is that whether you are ready. Many Chinese in this forum are satisfied with Chinese nuclear ability, but I'm not. In my eyes, China is still way behind the US in this area, no matter the striking ability or the defense system.

It's actually not about war, it's about balance. NO country can be as powerful as the US since the end of cold war. To restore the balance of the whole world, China should have not 1000 warheads but more than 5000 as the US, 20+ SSBN, and red B52/B1b/B2/2018 bombers. Now could you understand the logic?

I would prepare a car with enough gas and other supplies, and try to migrate to Tibet plateau, where there's few people and should be safe.
