China to overtake US economy by 2032 as Asian might builds: report

The most important thing people still forget is the GDP per capita of US is $58000 compared to $8000 in China. Have Shanghai, Shenzhen, Beijing overtaken Newyork, Chicago, LA in competitiveness or Quality of life? India will also overtake UK in few years doesn't mean anything.

This is true. If China ships raw materials from Africa for example, not to china directly, but to Pakistan, it can utilize the cheaper Pakistani labor (large young population looking for work) to do the initial processing and manufacturing (labor intensive) and then ship the rest onwards via the CPEC train corridor to china, and then complete the task in china's own factories. if they find a way to do this they could save on labor and build up their interior regions.

My point was with automation the factories would shift to either resource rich countries/places like Africa or to the consumption centers like US. Either way you reduce operatinal overheads. China had the advantage of industrial era where labor costs played a major role in production costs. World is moving to an era where cheap labor is not going to play a major role but innovation ability of the populace does. Its very important for countries to educate their population and make them productive and not see them as cheap labor. Otherwise countries like India/Pakistan are doomed.

5-10 years ago it was the early 20's, then it was the mid to late 20's, now it's 2030 or later.

China isn't outpacing the US in dollars added to GDP anymore, certainly not at the rate they need to pass the US.

An India surpassing China later in the century? That's not going to sit well with people here.

The predictions are done by western institutions, not Chinese. You bashed their prediction on China, but have no qualms in taking their words that US is adding more $ to GDP than China, and India will surpass China later half of century.

It would be wise for you and other Indians to do some maths before speaking.

Who is adding more $ to GDP?

US GDP $18.6 trillion x 2-3% growth = ?
vs
China GDP $11.2 trillion x 6.5% growth = ?
vs
India GDP $2.2 trillion x 6-7% growth = ?

The past 2 years or so is an outlier because the RMB depreciated sharply against the USD. However the RMB has since stabilized against the USD or even appreciated this year.

I believe in the next nominal GDP figures released China would have outpaced the US again.

It's cheaper to send everything to Shanghai by ship.

When you make such a comparison, you need to compare using PPP.

Shanghai is slightly less than half of New York in per capita terms. So they should easily catch up with New York in a decade or so.

Both US and China are adding pretty much the same amount every year. The US dollar strengthens many times ever year, so it compensates for the lower amount that comes in through GDP growth alone.

But China's GDP growth is going to fall quite a bit from the next decade onwards.

China should already be approaching the $12T mark.

OMG! China will have the biggest economy what year 20-whatever! I'm so scared. Maybe I should learn to speak Chinese or something.

I believe China is already on economic par with the US, and will overtake US in 2025.

This is bs. We all know by 2030, India will have the biggest economy. People like F22 , harmotia antidote will be working for Indians as slaves.

Yea, yea, I saw it in a video once. Where white servants serve Indians.

The Indians will take any data that make them look good and ignore the rest. And when the facts becomes inconvenient, they always revert to PPP calculation, and comparison.

You should. Many schools here have Mandarin Chinese immersion programs.
