Beijing: China will this year hold its first large-scale military parade since 2009 to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II, reports said on Tuesday, with one key goal described as being to "frighten Japan".

Communist China generally shies away from the vast annual demonstrations of military might that were a hallmark of the Soviet Union. But it most recently held National Day parades in 1999 and 2009 to mark the 50th and 60th anniversaries of the October 1 establishment of the People's Republic of China.

Even now the part played by the People's Liberation Army in China's earlier resistance against Japanese invasion remains a key element of the Communist Party's claim to a right to rule.

On its instant messaging WeChat account, the People's Daily newspaper, the Party's official mouthpiece, cited a Hong Kong report that a parade would be held this year to commemorate the anniversary of the war's end.

One reason for mounting the parade was "to frighten Japan and declare to the world China's determination to maintain the post-war world order", said the article, written by Chinese financial and global affairs commentator Hu Zhanhao.

"Only by showing its military capabilities can (China) show Japan its attitude and determination and let it know that whoever dares to challenge the post-war order related to China and touch China's core interests is its enemy and must be psychologically prepared for China's strong counterattack," it said.

more to scare it's own people I would say.
it is a mask. i do not fear the chinese neither should the Japanese.
once the Chinese start doing stuff America does on a daily basis like invade and occupy countries then I would worry

if someone should be scared it should be Vietnam. i been saying China needs to test out it's might and the safest bet is Vietnam, a fight with Japan or Taiwan would escalate to WW3 or at least a nuclear holocaust.

Rubbish。

A small scale military parade will be held to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II。

Agreed ! Just take a look at the typical Military parade in Moscow and even Paris ... it's surely more a sign of nation pride and confidence to the own forces, a sign to the own people but to scare anyone !

True.

If we are talking about actual military operations, as in mass troop transport, logistics to/from the battlefields, medical evacs, maneuvers, amphibious operations, and the list is long, then believe it or not, the Iraqi Army (under Saddam Hussein) is more capable than modern day PLA, which since its withdrawal from Korea, have been used %99.999 for domestic pacification. The modern PLA have never been put into a position where it must project its capabilities and operate, even for 90 days duration, independent of homeland support.

The modern day JSDF is only marginally better thanks to institutional memories from its parent/heritage from the WW II Imperial military and today's close military relationship with the US military, the latter exposed the JSDF to just about every tactics and techniques an offensive capable military, like the American's, should be capable of doing and does it for at least 90 days. Japan may not have power projection ambitions, but militarily speaking, such a capability will give Japan a higher stature and responsibilities in any potential military conflict that involves the US in Asia. The JSDF will NOT be merely an auxiliary (support) of that alliance but to any joint command structure, the JSDF will be assigned a goal or goals and will be expected to achieve that goal or those goals.

I agree. If China was dumb enough to spend 9 years to invade and occupy a country and then hand it over to ISIS, I would worry too.

All done under lies and false pretenses no less. Where the neo-con instigators are sitting pretty, supported and defended by a cast of brainwashed sheeple, whilst the corpses of their American soldiers (a greater number than those that died on 9/11) moulder in the ground.

If China were to behave like the US - to respond to the murder of Chinese people by attacking the wrong target, resulting in the deaths of even more Chinese people than were first killed by those aforementioned murderers, I would be very scared. :agree:

lol i found that really funny when the media said China is going to show power or take back (Insert Disputed Islands name here) by force...

I was thinking did those newpaper have any brain to begin with? Especially the one CPC hold regards dearly and claim the 2 Millions PLA is ready for war....I actually laugh out loud and felt to the ground hearing this comment

Yeah 2 millions troop, but they are not gonna magically appear in battle , nor their equipment and consumable. Current the best sealift and airlift country is US, the US Have 1 millions troop give or takes and with 300 naval support vessel and around 400 heavy transport, even the US can only able to lift or support 25 to 30 precent of their troop for foward deployment. How are the 2 millions troop the PLA have can deploy in any island is beyond me...

Then I got to a point when PDF chinese member here saying we can build 20 millions car so we can send 2 millions soldier overseas....lol, then i understand why Chinese newspaper can always say they can take back whatever Island lol...

You're totally right. You should base your analysis of China's capabilities on what random Chinese newspapers have to say - many of which are tabloids based in Hong Kong or Taiwan. Good job! :omghaha:

But you trust Bill "the I'm yelling at you the entire interview" O' Reily, lol.

Probably not, but still, Chinese news, is it garbage? It is yes, but can you learn from the news? Absolutely.

Trust is a strong word, what do you mean trust, you can't trust any network really, like Australia, we took one of your people and put her in jail, the media emphasized she had chains, shaved her head, and all that, but forgot to mention, if the crime she was accused of committing was true, she would be on her way to the chair.

Now on the other hand, this artist flew drones to Chinese NSA building and was brought in for questioning, they didn't cuff him or anything and after he explained and proved who he is, they returned his drones WITH the footage to him and let him know the laws regarding it and that's that.

Which media can you trust? Nobody, make up your own mind about the news.

Yeah...The US lost more troops in combat in WW II than in the attack on Pearl Harbor. Maybe the US should not have gone to war.

Why not ? You guys do it...

If war broke between Japan and the Chinese, I bet US will not come in a fight immediately. We can see the ukrain and Russia conflict. Never happen even the nukes war break out.
