China takes significant step towards launching solar power plant in space

Yeah but Russia is only a weak shithole with economy smaller than Italy so its worthless ally in that respect. You dont get a fancy lunar station with russia and you have to do evrything yourself. Thats your problem. With Europe it would have been much easier so now China is on its own.
That is your opinion of Russia only. Although Russian's economy might be much smaller in size, but, it still has immense political and military capabilities and influences in the world, otherwise you Europeans won't be crying fouls all the time. Besides, Russia is a much more reliable, independent and friendly partner than EU to China.

All good, then Chinese space station doesn't have to cater to you Europeans if all together cancelled, we do it by our own and with other friendly countries the better.

Also, you EU is not a reliable and independent partner anyway. Take the Galileo Satellite Navigation system, You Europeans first want to develop it in collaboration with China. But couple years into the development, under pressure from the Yankees, You Europeans won't allow China to participate and access key technologies of the system. So China got out the cooperation and developed its own Beidou system which is better than US GPS and your Galileo system now, Chinese Beidou system has more users in more countries than the US GPS now even though Beidou is developed decades later. Chinese Beidou came out into full service couple years ago before your Galileo, which is to this day still not finished and not fully operational, and had many problems such as the clocks on the system for the past years. EU's Galileo can only be used for commercial services while the Chinese Beidou can be used for both commercial and military purposes.

I have Google maps

The crap thing from Egypt is not even paper.

Paper which u still are using now are not much different from thousand years ago made by China.

Maybe you want to claim compass and gunpowder is developed from European with your sole loser attitude?

Papyrus holds more than paper. But hey Egypt was a true high culture

.
Interesting. I think this technology can be used to supply power to permanent station in moon and Mars.

.
Final form of this is a space ballistic missile defense shield using lasers to zap launches to LEO

As long as these satellites don't cause shadows on the planet or fall on

In a significant development, China is looking to launch a solar power plant by 2028 in space. According to a report by the South China Morning Post, the plan to launch the project is two years ahead of its schedule. The country will launch the satellite at an altitude of 400 kms. The details of the plan have been shared in the journal Chinese Space Science and Technology.

The report further stated that the satellite will first convert the solar energy into electricity. It will then convert the electricity into microwaves or lasers which can then be transmitted to various targets on the Earth. The same can then convert back into electricity on the planet. While the project will only generate 10 kilowatts, which can only be used by a few homes, the same will be subsequently increased to become an important source of power.

The report went on to state that the proposal was drafted in 2014 for the first time and was in response to advancement in latest technologies and “new situations at home and abroad. ”. The paper suggests that the power plant will be built in four stages.

After the initial launch in 2028, China will send another satellite in 2030 into the geostationary orbit about 36,000 km from the earth, with an aim to conduct more experiments. By the year 2035, a 10-megawatt power plant will begin transmitting energy to a number of civilian users and the Chinese military.

Experts believe that by 2050, this station’s output could increase to 2 gigawatts. The article further predicted that a full-scale microwave beam could transfer nearly 230 watts per square metre, which is close to direct sunlight. Even as microwaves are believed to be safe for people at these levels, it is not clear whether they impact those living near the receiving station on the Earth.

As long as the satellites don't cause shadows on the earth or fall on people it should be ok.

:cheesy:
Lol can't believe you guys arguing about space tech with a guy from Greek.

They don't even have a space agency until 2018. I bet they cant even make a toy rocket that can leave the ground for 100m.

The Hellenic Space Agency (Greek: Ελληνικός Διαστημικός Οργανισμός), abbreviated as the HSA (Greek: ΕΛΔΟ, ELDO), was the national space agency of Greece. It was founded at 19 March 2018 as a public limited company by the Ministry of Digital Policy, Telecommunications and Media.[1][2] On August 9, 2019, it was replaced by the Hellenic Space Center

Guys these Greeks are like the losers from Europe. The laziest and poorest of them all, bankrupt until being bailed out by the Germans.
