Faster Delivery Service across the Straits
2015-05-01
The first express delivery center in Taipei port has opened and is expected to speed up the delivery of packages between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan.
The new route linking Fujian's Pingtan Free Trade Zone and the port of Taipei is 96 nautical miles in length and will take a cargo ship less than five hours to traverse.
Hong Qingtan, an express delivery businessman, is looking forward to using the new service.
"The route is much shorter and with high-speed freight ships, the delivery can be as fast as by air. At the same time, the center is doing more than just handling packages across the strait. It will also open up a door to the outside world."
Packages across the Taiwan straits have previously been delivered through Xiamen port in Fujian and Taiwan's Jinmen port, which took much longer.
The center is planning to further improve delivery efficiency by providing faster custom clearance procedures.

We certainly need more Mainland brand presence here. You will see the youth lining up to buy.
