Eaxctly, your Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was right when he said that "Pakistanis will eat grass but will make the nuclear bomb". Pakistan like Iran faces an existential threat and had no choice. But had a clear vision and did go nuclear and the sky did not fall. Iran should just test a nuke and let the chips fall where they will. There is nothing the US and west can do now that has not been done.
Honestly I am surprised that Iran didn't test the nukes, they should've many years ago if they had the technology, the world is a cruel place and its getting uglier by the day, weak countries are triumph by the strong, economic sanctions, civil wars and direct invasions are like swords that looms on a weak and vulnerable nations, Pakistan had one existential threat that was India and we equal that when we test our nukes, since then Indians although they engage in skirmish but never cross the threshold, Israel got its nukes ensuring that if they go down they will take their enemies with them, Iran has all the right to do the same, but I hope KSA and Sunni world is not among the enemies as Iran and KSA has to come to negotiating table for the greater good of the Muslim community by large. But before that, both KSA and Iran has to become powerful enough to make sure they are not invaded or disrupt by the external forces. This is the world we live in now, those who have the most dangerous weapons will dictate terms for war and peace.
