China, Pakistan ink pact to keep JF-17 tech away from India

The problem is, due to the Indian envy at the pace with which JF-17 has been FOC-ed in PAF and the capability it brings in at minimal cost, India might want to purchase JF-17 to replace the failed LCA Tejas. So this makes sure that we don't want to sell any to India.

Very informative post TT

jf-17 shares many technologies and parts of source code with j-20,thats why the concern.

It is more than that. JF-17 is actually the "right" plane for countries like Pakistan or India. While fifth gen planes such as J-20 or F-22 are very nice, they also cost enormous amount of resource. Remember, a plane's initial cost is actually a rather small part of its overall cost. The maintenance and operation will end up costing a lot more, particularly if said country's infrastructure has not reached the level that it can fully service the planes through domestic means. This is because without domestic means of maintaining these planes, you are forced to go to the seller for services and you have to pretty much pay whatever they demand of you.

From purely engineering stand point of view, I don't agree with India's approach on building domestic fighters. Instead of looking to get the best in one step, it is more appropriate to make cheaper, a bit less advanced, but based on mature technology that you can fully understand and support. In this regard, JF-17 is actually the more approach type of plane for Pakistan or India.

From military stand point of view, JF-17 also suits Pakistan or India's needs better. For India, the largest regional power India has to compete with is China. However, China's main focus is towards east with its westward expansion pretty much limited to economic means. This means there isn't exactly a burning need for India to get the last and cutting edge of the fighters. On the other hand, the more realistic and immediate military need of India is pretty much focused on Pakistan. Since it has a long border and continued conflicts with Pakistan, it is more beneficial to get cheaper planes at larger number.

does JF17 has any secrets? I didnt know...lol...I am afraid, this is what Pakistan NSA talked abt few days back about Paks second strike capability..........if so, God save India...that Jf17 with secrets come unidentified and bomb Indian cities..omg..what to do now? !!!

Let me get this straight, Pakistan and china will share jf17 tech with us to sabotage us?

What part of the fact that they are our enemies or adversaries do you not understand? Generally one does not share anything with enemies least of all the tech which runs your latest fighter.

oh come one! don't be like that. if India asks nicely I am sure Pakistan or China or both will share their darkest secrets. As to the sabotage part, I will let you think thru it a bit

wooh there. dinner and a date first.

I pay for dinner only when promised some bases.....even that is too late, milady will chop me off if I even try any funny binez.

India is still developing that garbage LCA after 30 years. Shows all you need to know about the ability of Indian defence industry. Those are just the official timelines, the real timeline are far worse once you remove the layer of Indian propaganda.

The last news, was that Americans were interested in getting the JF-17 Thunder know how...which is already in public's eye.
