I made a count on the newly-operated PLA naval ships year-to-date 2016, and surprisingly found PLA Navy has got 19 new naval ships during the first seven months of 2016 (Jan. to July, 2016), or one new ship every 10 days. The 19 ships include:
- one aegis destroyer,
- two frigates,
- three light frigates,
- one amphibious warfare ship,
- four tank landing ships,
- three replenishment ships,
- one minesweeper,
- one icebreaker
- two survey ships
- one space tracking ship

P.S. submarines are not included in the research. Because it is hard to find the news about submarines commissioning.

Below is the list of the 19 ships, incl. links to the commissioning news.

Given such rate, there is no doubt PLAN is the second largest navy in the world.

People who still believe Russia navy is the second largest navy in tonnage is in denial :enjoy:

What about small missile boats ?

small missile boats are no longer the focus of the Chinese Navy. We have too many 022 missile boats (>80).

China has:
83 x Type 022 missile boats
23 x Type 056 corvettes
9 x Type 056A corvettes (anti-sub version) (need 15 more)
24 x Type 054A frigates
6 x Type 052C destroyers
4 x Type 052D destroyers (need 8 more)
4 x Type 071 LPDs (need 4 more)

Building Type 055 cruiser, Type 075 LHD, Type 001A aircraft carrier, Type 901 Fast Combat Support Ship.

China desperately need the Type 055 cruiser.

What about small missile boats ?

Their Naval Shipyards Focusing on Capital Ships (Over 1,500 Tonnes) Right know.

Nope its not Aegis. Aegis is the American system it would be better to call them from the name of the Chinese System

Maybe, more precisely it's called Aegis-like Combat Vessels.

But, what I love from Type 052D Destroyer China's Navy is their AESA RADAR. :smitten:
It's Already use AESA Radar, while Arleigh burke class still use PESA Radar.

By the way, Thanks for the Summary, brother @GS Zhou

That's not enough, it is urgent for China to open a second production line for the nuclear submarine.

China has already two production lines for the aircraft carrier, then why not the same for the nuclear submarine?

This is even more critical than the aircraft carrier, because the stealth element could be the decisive factor.

This is true but I think building subs take more time. It seems like the Chinese leaders are placing their bets on ACs. ACs make big fat target for anti-ship missiles, so they need plenty of protection. Since China has no plan to project her power across the oceans I really cannot comprehend why China is so adamant about acquiring these floating behemoths.

Two AC production lines, soon three destroyer product lines, and we need the second production for the nuclear submarine as soon as possible.

The ideal solution should be three nuclear submarine production lines, since we need to achieve the quantity of 50+ nuclear submarines as soon as possible, and we can also sell some to Pakistan and Iran.
