At least put up some for the New York subway stations, many people die there.
New York may as well be a different country.

Yes, that does happen here though very very rarely so it doesn't prompt people to adopt extra protection. It's for the case that some crazy people may push others into the tracks or someone may jump down to commit suicide. It's a standard protection for the subway stations at least in China.

A portion of subway-related deaths in New York consists of suicides committed by jumping in front of an oncoming train. Between 1990 and 2003, 343 subway-related suicides have been registered out of a citywide total of 7,394 (4.6%) and subway-related suicides increased by 30%, despite a decline in overall suicide numbers.Yes, that does happen here though very very rarely so it doesn't prompt people to adopt extra protection.
OK, just a suggestion. Your country, your rule. You probably have an exponentially greater chance of dying after stepping off a bus.

You need to stretch the time horizon to get a better picture of the statistics. In addition, protection against suicide is more to protect the publicity than the safety.A portion of subway-related deaths in New York consists of suicides committed by jumping in front of an oncoming train. Some of them also have metal detectors.Chinese subways also used to have no screen doors, after a couple of accidents, they decided to have screen doors installed in every subway station.
Just in case the US changes its mind, we are always ready to help.
Yes, security check is also a must in all Chinese subway stations. Some of them also have metal detectors.
Last year when I was on my way back to US, I had to go through several metal detectors at:Yes, security check is also a must in all Chinese subway stations.
Can be a hassle sometimes, I agree, in Beijing's subway sometimes they just randomly stop you to check your ID card.Last year when I was on my way back to US, I had to go through several metal detectors at:
1. Hangzhou long distance bus station
2. Off the bus station at Pudong airport before getting in the airport building.
3. Somewhere in the middle of the airport. Just a checkpoint.
4. Security check after clearing off the customs.

I suspect it is the explosive that they are looking out for. There were several explosions on buses so the protection on public transportation is now desirable. No security checks nor metal detectors in our stations. Just the turnstiles for the passcards. You guys searching for knives or something at EVERY subway station in China???

Large bus stations and hubs have metal detectors. It is probably not very practical to use them at small stops.Hmm how are they handling buses? Or are they just focusIng on trains because of the potential higher death toll possibility.
