China already has had so much bad press prior to HongKong Security Law.... KhooniVirus ...still doing its thing.

What is the compelling reason for such Deomonstrative Action by PLA?

5.000 to 10.000 PLA Troops... eyes in the sky watching .... all tents and trucks... J11s on the tarmac as shown by the IndianMedia....

China won't go to this length in such overt manner... while its hands are full with so many internal and external issues. ColdWar 3.0!

In essense, short of giving the US bases...like we did in 50s... Indian TrumpCards are not that extensive... HasinaRegime is the only Firewall in BD for India....

One thing is certain... China will not initiate a ClockworkWar with India or for that matter the US.

The reason for to why China has taken such a Demonstrative step is rather clear!

no need to worry about that. Most PLA soldiers are behind the LAC within the Chinese claim line, there are only a few standoff locations across the LAC about 500m or so. As long as India completes its road connectivity and airstrips, Chinese will not be able to do anything.

Yes. Siachen is bound to become an Indian territory fully surrounded by Chinese controlled Kashmir all around.

Chinese goal is to connect Chinese controlled Ladakh with Chinese controlled Shaksgam valley.

Chinese have already made gains in Pangong Tso and Galwan Valley in the last few days.

Why did PLA move just now?

IK's rhetoric from last two months regarding GB, SMK's recent tweets. They had intelligence, this PLA move is to dilute the impact and engage India on another front. A clear signaling... Though it won't go in to direct conflict but at least to keep them on their toes. Will give much of breathing space to Pakistan at LOC, since india had upped the ante from Kabulistan and Iran to dilute Pakistan's force on two fronts. It's quite interesting how this is playing out. India is gonna come red faced and blue eyed out of it this time around.

It seems quite clearly that this is a reaction to the pressure that China is facing at the moment. The border with India is not at all one of their areas of great concern; their concentration has been and continues to be their front with Taiwan, and in the naval arena, the South China Sea. These petty squabbles are China's piqued reaction to India's undutiful support of other countries to the demand for an investigation into China's management of the Covid-19 crisis; to the Indian flirting with the US proposal for a loosely-linked alliance to support their efforts against Chinese expansion into the South China Sea; and to the Indian deviation from her earlier unconditional support for the PRC.

What about a naval base in Vietnam, overlooking Chinese moves in the South China Sea! India maintains a Air and Naval Base at the Cam Ranh Bay, in Vietnam.

Like Sikkim and Siachin etc, it will be interesting to see how the two big neighbours deal with each other, apart from kicking and swearing. China is quite capable to handle multiple fronts,if US wants to join the party.
