aircraft carriers and nuclear subs for weak opponents such as Vietnam are overkill. destroyers and conventional subs are more helpful. just curious, if you will deploy all the 3 fleets in a theoretical war in the SC Sea?

The US also used to overkill the weak opponents, so it is China.

They plan to lure the Chinese ships up some river where they have already secretively planted steel tipped logs. It worked for them twice in the past so no point changing whats not broken.

6x 052C DDGs PLAN has, N.o170 and N.o171 for SCS Fleet, N.o150、N.o151、N.o152、N.o153 for ECS Fleet.

Don't underestimate the C, at least it got the single band AESA radars, whereas not even the Flight IIA got this.

So against the Flight IIA, the C got both advantage and disadvantage.

As for the Type 055, it got 48+64 VLS cells, but these cells are even larger than the MK57, so the firepower of 48+64 with these cells will be considered to be tremendous.

China shipbuilding industry is developing, they will build good warship.
