Honestly, I just do not know why these Government and Opposition politicians here would deliberately destroy Australia - China trade relationship because it a very lucrative trade for Australia. Thousands of jobs are tied up with this trade, and it is going to have a massive impact on unemployment if these idiots continue to push their agenda.

Not really, we can buy from Brazil or Russia, they have the same level of reserves as AU. Their iron ore is somewhat more expensive because their production processes are less efficient, but we can invest in them to alleviate production bottlenecks. If the party leadership decides it is a strategic priority to punish Australian recalcitrance, then we can shoulder the cost no problem. Besides, iron ore has been a buyer's market ever since commodities bust, buyers have all the power at the moment.

What does AU need steel for? It has no heavy industry. Its only car manufacturer Holden was bought by GM who off-shored it. It can be done if the government let the meat price to be controlled by domestic supply and demand and avoid making intervention by importing meat from other countries when the domestic meat price goes up. Many government intervention in this sector is made to control inflation and not due to scarcity. At least it is true for my country case.

The problem is that this policy is not popular for any developing countries whose people income is not that high. Actually I prefer this policy so that we can be self sufficient on meat, eggs, chicken and also agriculture product and grow our own farm so that the money can be circulated inside the country. We need to give incentive for our own farmer so that they have more motivation to expand their business. This policy can hurt the people wallet in the sort term but give more benefit in the longer term for the nation.
