New radar, water pipelines: Satellite images decode Chinese troop movement in Ladakh's Depsang

Galwan_overview_1-770x433.jpeg

The Depsang Plains in eastern Ladakh is the latest site of Chinese treachery on the ill-defined border with India. Recent satellite images have revealed that China has amassed the People's Liberation Army Ground Force (PLAGF) troops in eastern Ladakh right behind the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

After the bloody fight on the fateful night of June 15, 2020, it came to light that the PLA is not moving back as promised, although all the statements coming out of China are claiming the opposite.

The satellite images of June 22 from Maxar Technologies clearly indicated that the PLAGF has, in fact, come further forward to assert their claims to the Galwan Estuary.

An interesting development was observed yesterday in the Depsang Plains opposite India's Daulat Beg Oldie (DBO) sector. Chinese troops have come forward and deployed around their existing posts in this area.

The Tianwendian post

The Tianwendian post -- the oldest post in this area -- was established after the 1962 Sino-Indian war under the garb of an Astronomical Observatory.

In the 1980s, India realised that the observatory but was a false pretext to have PLA troops stationed in this area. The post was expanded in 1998, in 2006 and the Chinese continued to increase the strength of soldiers posted here as the time passed.

Tianwendian_total-x540.jpeg

The Tianwendian post has a main double-storey building 60m X 10m and many support buildings such as vehicle sheds and a cookhouse. The base has three large buildings possibly for accommodating troops.

It has a perimeter wall with the main gate on the eastern side. The post previously meant for one company can now possibly hold a battalion of PLA troops with other administrative facilities, including basketball courts.

The post has a large hard standing which can be used for vehicle parking or helicopter landing. It also has a small water pump house with a pipeline going right up to the post, catering water requirements of troops in this barren land.

The radar site is at 5,530m and has a solar panel for independent electricity requirement. It also has a lightening protector behind the radome.

When the location is plotted on Google Earth, the line of sight elevation profile of this radar indicates that it cannot only observe the air movement over DBO but also observe every aerial movement over Siachen Glacier.

The elevation profile shows an unhindered path clear for this radar up to 140km in that direction.

Forward Post 5390

Somewhere around 2006-08, China constructed another post similar to this one and named it Forward Post 5390.
The name 5390 has been derived from the highest point of 5,390m in the vicinity of this post where the PLA has a hexagonal-shaped observation point.

This observation point structure is painted red to signify allegiance of the PLA to the Communist Party of China's colour.

Main Post Building

The main building is single storey and smaller in size with 35m length and 15m width. The roof of this building is also painted red.

There is a large coal dump possibly used for cooking and winter warming. It also has solar panels for electricity generation.

Experimental test building

A small blue-roofed building of 20m X 8m size is located to the east of this post 5390.

The signatures around this building suggest that it is possibly being used for storage of electro-optical equipment being tested in this area.

I have repeatedly said in last few days.
China has come well prepared. It is not a quick skirmish and then we kiss and made up.

The Indians are trying to be smart resulted in the death of so many Indians.
someone today posted some pictures, that how Indian army has captured a sliding part of a hill/mountain.
Declaring that the situation is in India's control, etc.etc.

The reality is gradually the enormity of the situation would dawn on the Indian public.
Indian army already knows, they have conveyed the message to Modi et al.
Modi's silent and that gaf is not without foundations. He knows what is happening and what could be the end results, if India doesn't wise up.

Abrogation of A 370 wasn't a cake walk, Modi is getting the message loud and clear.

Misleading statement by sabir Shakir. All these PLA positions shown are those held by PLA since 1962, & are on its side of the LAC.

1) PLA has NOT crossed LAC in DBO or Despang plains area.
2) Siachen is NOT supplied through these areas but from LEH.
3) PLA at its nearest is 55 KM from "cutting off" Siachen supply line. And even for that, they will have to occupy not only Shyok river valley but also Sasser Ridgeline.
4) PLA has not even cut off the DBO's supply line i.e Shyok river valley and its DSDBO road.

Although the anchors don't have the exact details or know what they are talking about but somehow their claims proven true to some extent.

I remember one of his tweets on the night of 28th Feb 2019 where he said that India is planning to attack with BMs after the humiliation of IAF, I didn't believe him but a few days later, it was confirmed that there was actually a real threat.

Indians are incapable, or unwilling, to grasp the reality of the current crisis. Self-deceptive nature of Indians compels them to live in their own delusions. Indian media are falsely calling it Chinese encroachment into Indian areas (while Modi clearly refuted/negated that claim). But Indians are trying to portray the crisis as Chinese aggression against their country. The reality is that, first of all, these are not Indian areas. These are disputed areas. There used to be a mutually agreed line, called the LAC, marking the disputed areas controlled by both sides. But Indians turned to be renegade on 5 August 2019 when India unilaterally changed the status of disputed state of J&K as Indian territory. That illegal unilateral act effectively turned the LAC irrelevant. China originally had claims over many more areas much beyond the LAC. Now the reference of that LAC is legally non-existent. How can Indians then claim that China is occupying their areas? In fact, Chinese are claiming that Indians are illegally occupying Chinese lands. By taking unilateral Indian action on 5 August 2019, Modi government, in fact, enforced the rule of might is right. Chinese are now using the same rule for retrieving their lands currently occupied by Indians. The crises are going to get worse because Chinese are determined to retrieve all their remaining lands from illegal Indian occupation.

After the killing of scores of Indian troops on 16 June 2020, Indians realized their actual worth and got some touch with reality. Indians sent their Lt. General for negotiations with Chinese side. The Indian general was disgraced (in terms of protocol) when he was made to wait for 90 minutes for the meeting and then finally allowed to meet a lower ranked Chinese general. Rather than listening (much less than heeding to) Indian demands, Chinese handed over quite a few demands to be met by the Indian government. That was a real shock for Modi government. Indian leadership started begging for political level talks and Chinese refused that. Modi government then requested Russians to mediate (Indians have in past always opposed third party involvement in 'bilateral' issues) - that amounts to another disgrace and humiliation for Indians. Anyhow Russians were able to persuade Chinese for having a tripartite video meeting. Indian observers were pinning their hopes (of fruitation of their begging for negotiated settlement) on that video conference which was held on 23 June 2020. The outcome of that meeting can be imagined by the fact that no press statement or declaration was issues after that video conference. More than that, Indians never even mentioned that meeting afterwards. In fact, Chinese gave a good pummeling to Indians in that meeting while Russians saying not even a single word in Indian support. Even worse for Modi, his defense minister returned from three-day long Moscow trip in disappointment.

Now Indians are pinning all their hopes on having a summit meeting with China in November. Well, good only for keeping Indians happy for the time being. November is not starting tomorrow. It's quite a few months from now. In the meantime, Chinese will continue retrieving more of their lands from illegal Indian occupation. Those areas were including into Indian union through an illegal unilateral action as part of Indian expansionist policies. And that is only one dimension of the whole crisis. India's long and consistent use of terrorism against Pakistan targeting not only Pakistani but also Chinese citizens is a whole other dimension. A third dimension encompasses along Indian active participation in anti-China alliance led by USA. Now if it's not self-deception on the part of Indians then what it is if they think that their begging here and there will resolve the current multi-dimensional crisis.

I think you are mistaken. It used to be the case. But Indians have invested heavily in DBO , updated the airfield, build the new road from Leh, so they can do drop in to Siachen from DBO. That's what the war with China is about.
DBO is used to connect to Tibet via the Kurakaram Pass and supply to Siachen, duel purposes.

That's why I confirm his statement, and posted the material from the website. He was actually right.
