China continues the dominance in global shipbuilding industry, as it wins 60% of the world-wide new ships building orders in 2020.

In the 1H-2020, shipyards across the globe in total won 11.1 million GT new orders; among which, 60%, or 6.64 million GT, are won by Chinese shipyards.

I’m surprised they aren’t trying to churn out five carriers at a time with that type of capacity

I think it is a question of systems' maturity.

On the OP, three EA states basically dominate the industry. They perhaps should think of a triopoly.

Chinese Shipbuilding have Gigantic Capacity.

Love the delicious irony here, people commenting this video think this ship was made in France.

It's Proudly MADE IN CHINA :china: CMA CGM Jacques Saade

Carriers take much much longer, are way more expensive, and require a huge amount of logistics/resources (which only Dalian and JNCX Shanghai are capable of). The 002 began module fabrication in late 2013, was laid down in 2015, and was only commissioned at the end of last year. And don't forget about the money needed for other surface vessels and SSNs/SSBNs especially.
it's not wartime
The Shanghai and Dalian shipyards will be the first key targets to be hit by the USN and USAF during wartime. China is not in the position of the US in World War II where they could simply churn out carriers with impunity from Japanese strikes.

Yeah, ship building yards would probably be rather dangerous places to live in a war. Damaging/destroying them really levels the playing field leaving everyone with only what they already have.

I have a bathtub, it has a hole in the bottom though. Don't know if it will float.

A war between China and USA isn't going to occur. China has plenty of time to develop & implement new technologies for future Carriers. What's the rush? Some are suggesting war could break out any time and China isn't building couple of Carriers simultaneously. MIC only wants to earn loads of money with hyping the China threat.

Agree. It is impossible for great powers to engage in a direct hot war in our age.

That's simply a global suicide.

Fighting continues indirectly, and mostly through proxies.

How to earn money if China nukes back USA within 30 minutes? Major power competition yes, a real war between super powers no. Using proxies have also a proven track of record of failed attempts with the most recent one India.
The US failed in Tibet, Korean and Vietnam War were precursors of invading China but both wars ended miserably for the US, pushing Philippines in the South China Sea failed, India got beaten up pretty badly. For the containment strategy using South Korea, Japan, Australia all ended up in failure. None of these proxies succeeded, they either get stomped viciously or punished financially. I would be very surprised if a lapdog manage to make progress against an unstoppable super power.

Indeed.

Even before China had its first successful nuclear detonation, the US did not directly confront China, and vice versa.

In Korea, US got the whole UN behind. China sent over volunteers.

I agree that proxy war does not work among major powers, as well.

Only learning how to coexist will.

Luckily, US is a slow learner. Burning itself through useless one-sided low-scale war. Wr should encourage them.

IMO Like its space exploration program, China adheres strictly to its schedule.
The latest moonlander mission is performed as schedule very systematically at her own pace.
China planned space Station should be completed by 2022. :coffee:
