China commits $6.5 billion for Pakistani nuclear project

What about toxic toys sold in USA, what about melamine in baby food of reputed and costly brands like Nestle and Mead Johnson which were made in China? Are they cheap products too?

These new nuclear plants will be big, any quality issue may result into catastrophe, and being a neighbor we will suffer the consequences also.

Now you will get me banned here. Please stick to the topic. :-)

Seriously, only 6 people died from the melamine contamination.

Just check the news in India, hundreds of people die from food poisoning or contaminated alcohol all the time, I remember the recent massive incident in West Bengal.

We make a big deal when 6 people die, yet millions of people in India die from starvation and malnutrition every single year and nobody even talks about it.

A lapse in quality control. Regrettable but happens.

Probably more often in China, if products going to US and Europe can have such serious lapses where babies can die, then what is Pakistan.

These new nuclear plants will be big, any quality issue may result into catastrophe, and being a neighbor we will suffer the consequences also.

You will suffer the consequences when your own nuclear reactors go into meltdown and contaminate the Ganges.

America and Russia had plant meltdowns, are you telling me India is such a genius country to avoid it?

Yes, from country-made illegal alcohol and locally cooked food in poor hygienic conditions, not from reputable branded products or from products marked for export in US & Europe under global brand names.

And on the other day I was in lighter mood, I was joking, and I never resort to insult and foul language, but you took it seriously, your compatriots behave in far more insulting manner against Indians.

Too late. You've clearly never seen the Ganges.

its a loan, learn to read.

why not? china has tons of experience and so does pakistan, both china and pakistan are years ahead of india.

Is that some sort of Joke?Pakistan havent even developed a commercial nuclear reactor on its own yet.

And leave Pakistan,We are ahead of China in certain technologies like Fast Breeders,Thorium Reactors etc.

.
I do not think Chinese technology is an issue at all. The only problem is that location of new reactor is so close to Karachi, that even any minor problem can create a havoc in the thickly populated city. Any other suitable location would be just as good for electricity production but the probability of damage to human life will greatly decrease.

Chinese are very smart, and hard working people. They already have some of the best technology in the world in several fields.

Very happy :victory::victory::bounce::victory::yahoo::cheers::victory::chilli::victory::lock::nana::lock::yay::victory::bounce::victory:
Choosing right friends and allies...China and Turkey are two examples.
Im proud that pakistan chose and maintained ties with real friends.
Our foreign policy has been maturing after the 90s and the real worth of ties with US has been assessed. IA pakistan will now only invest in right relationships and stop being a fool.

Congrats Pakistan!
Another gem in :pakistan:Pak-China:china: ties.
Keep going guys. IA we are inseparable.
I want to see a major Chinese naval as well as air base in Gwadar.

wow we pakistani love to give airbases and naval ports, to chinese to arabs to americans to who ever asks for it i guess. I guess our school book dont have any chapter on how to be a proud nation, but i remember reading about Pakistan china friendship is higher than Himalyas. This is like celebrating and sale of motor cycle from a showroom, hugging and kissing the salesman for selling it to you and calling him your brother from another mother

Lol looks like the last statement found you somehow offended. :)

First, plz don't generalize to make a point. It's only what I said and that too very light heartedly.

Talking about being a proud nation, well I agree with you, as far as relations with US are concerned, we're a spineless nation, or maybe that applies only to our politician class. I don't know if we've given bases to anyone besides the US for spying and drones. And we're wrong on that part.

What I mentioned was inviting the Chinese to establish a base in Gwadar, not bowing to their request/pressure to grant them space for a base. I don't feel like defending my expression to have a Chinese base, but there's one thing: we cannot compare our relationship with china to the US. Since 1950s both the relations have been quite in contrast and everyone in Pakistan knows that. Our relationship with US is open hypocrisy. Whereas the Chinese have helped us both in economy and in defence. They rather build stuff and infrastructure here instead of giving grants/aid which shows genuine intent to help.

The reason I said that in my above post was bcoz after reading major infrastructure investment from china in Karachi nuclear power plant, ie the title of this thread, I thought it would be great if the Chinese come and build naval base facilities in Gwadar too, having already developed the port, and build shipyards there too, as they're already expanding their own to accommodate rapid building of their navy.

We would benefit from that with increase in significance of Gwadar, presence of major naval force in Gwadar, since our own navy is concentrated around Karachi area, and major up-gradation of shipbuilding capacity. The naval and Air Force will act as a deterrence.

But then again it wasn't a very thought out statement..it just popped out of my mouth out of happiness.

you know why are we in this mess we are in today, because of exactly the same thinking our leaders have like our gullible public. There should be a red line in any relationship between nations, no bases, no ports no contact within my country by outside powers without my govt knowing it, no majid no madrassah in my country by a foreign country, no interfering in our politics. Yes we can have business with any country muslim or non-muslim, come build ports and infrastructure take profit and leave.

It appears u just skipped my post...and moved on to write ur own

Oh sure, there are crappy Chinese products. They're aimed at low-income markets.

There are also really very good Chinese products. These are aimed at markets that can afford to pay for them.

True, very rational comment, dude.

China do have low quality products and many people make jokes about these products, even people in China complain about it. The fact is we are also doing improvements because of customer requests, regulation requirement and brand construction, more companies are taking this responsibility to improve quality.

People get what they are afford to pay, if they are wealthy, sure, they can get whatever things of best quality they want.

no I read your post I just want to re-confirm it because this is the major flaw in Pakistan's foreign policy. This famous saying we have in Pakistan "yaroon ka yaar" does not work in international politics.
