Just check the news in India, hundreds of people die from food poisoning or contaminated alcohol all the time, I remember the recent massive incident in West Bengal.

We make a big deal when 6 people die, yet millions of people in India die from starvation and malnutrition every single year and nobody even talks about it.

I do not think Chinese technology is an issue at all. The only problem is that location of new reactor is so close to Karachi, that even any minor problem can create a havoc in the thickly populated city. Any other suitable location would be just as good for electricity production but the probability of damage to human life will greatly decrease.

Chinese are very smart, and hard working people. They already have some of the best technology in the world in several fields.

First, plz don't generalize to make a point. It's only what I said and that too very light heartedly.

Talking about being a proud nation, well I agree with you, as far as relations with US are concerned, we're a spineless nation, or maybe that applies only to our politician class. I don't know if we've given bases to anyone besides the US for spying and drones. And we're wrong on that part.

What I mentioned was inviting the Chinese to establish a base in Gwadar, not bowing to their request/pressure to grant them space for a base. I don't feel like defending my expression to have a Chinese base, but there's one thing: we cannot compare our relationship with china to the US. Since 1950s both the relations have been quite in contrast and everyone in Pakistan knows that. Our relationship with US is open hypocrisy. Whereas the Chinese have helped us both in economy and in defence. They rather build stuff and infrastructure here instead of giving grants/aid which shows genuine intent to help.

The reason I said that in my above post was bcoz after reading major infrastructure investment from china in Karachi nuclear power plant, ie the title of this thread, I thought it would be great if the Chinese come and build naval base facilities in Gwadar too, having already developed the port, and build shipyards there too, as they're already expanding their own to accommodate rapid building of their navy.

We would benefit from that with increase in significance of Gwadar, presence of major naval force in Gwadar, since our own navy is concentrated around Karachi area, and major up-gradation of shipbuilding capacity. The naval and Air Force will act as a deterrence.

But then again it wasn't a very thought out statement..it just popped out of my mouth out of happiness.

Oh sure, there are crappy Chinese products. They're aimed at low-income markets.

There are also really very good Chinese products. These are aimed at markets that can afford to pay for them.

China do have low quality products and many people make jokes about these products, even people in China complain about it. The fact is we are also doing improvements because of customer requests, regulation requirement and brand construction, more companies are taking this responsibility to improve quality.

People get what they are afford to pay, if they are wealthy, sure, they can get whatever things of best quality they want.

no I read your post I just want to re-confirm it because this is the major flaw in Pakistan's foreign policy. This famous saying we have in Pakistan "yaroon ka yaar" does not work in international politics.
