@VALKRYIE what can you expect from a country who just build her Coast Guard literally and actually yesterday (in December 2014 if i recall) and already built or acquire 8 vessels in mere three months, give us five years from now and we will have more tonnage and number than Vietnam surveillance vessels, as already been planned by Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean

Those ships from Indonesia are new one, just built in 2014. First order is for 16 KCR 60 (60 m long) and 16 KCR 40 (40 m long). Using C-705 missile and CIWS gun. We also have ordered 4 STEALTH boat, and in the future there might be many bonefish USV.

I think VietNam should negotiate to build these two ships at their own shipyard. I once read that VietNam once explored the possibility of joint-development or TOT from Indonesia to manufacture some military weapons in VN.

A latest Chinese news quoted the U.S Navy report (pls post the official report), during past 3x years China had increased 25% naval surveillance ships. Most of them used for patrolling in SCS.

According to U.S Navy report, the numbers of China naval surveillance ships more than Japan + Vietnam + Indonesia + Malaysia + Philippines, over naval surveillance ships of five nations.

In 2014 China different shipyards launched over 60x surveillance ships, 2015 will built the same numbers. The report said:" 2013 ~ 2014, China built naval ships more than any nation in this region. It will keep such building speed during 2015 ~ 2016 time. "

China also building many artificial islands in SCS, the Washington increasingly worried about China's maritime power.

Although China economy growth slow down, China military expenditure still rising. This March China government announced to increase 10% military budger, reach to 141.5 billion USD.

this ship is unsuitable for our need. I want to see our navy to have aircraft carrier, like japan izumo, and onboard f-35s. I think becoming US ally is a precondition.

Not really. It Has less to do with communism (look at north Korea), but more to do with governance. Had China been under KMT like Taiwan, it would have done same or even far better than under the CCP. since it wouldn't have gone through the lost decades of isolation/ideological fanaticism of Mao's era. It would have been at par or far ahead of its peers Japan and Korea .

Similarly, I don't think a communist party would have done better had it been ruling India either. In fact though many of us laugh at India's chaotic/inefficient democratic system, its still the best for country else it would have been divided into several different countries a while ago. Lol After all, the people get the government they deserve.

I dont think so, it is China who needs aircraft carrier to feed its ambition on SCS. Instead of aircraft carrier you better add more yakhoon missile platform on your frigates, and improve some of your Su 30 to enable them to bring yakhoon. Your defense system also another priority since your airbase will be the target if SCS conflict become reality.

Instead of aircraft carrier you better add more yakhoon missile platform on your frigates, and improve some of your Su 30 to enable them to bring yakhoon. I bet china will never dare to use aircraft carrier to assault a country with a formidable navy and airforce as japan and vietnam. not to mention, from japan and Vietnam shore, any chinese warships within 300km distance can be taken on by our antiship missiles.

aircraft carrier is usually a tool to show off, intimidating weak opponents. but hey, I like aircraft carrier for our navy.

Interesting bro, I never knew there is a plan for a bigger stealth corvette. Is there any link for more info on that design? (@Carlosa I think you are a fan of fast compact corvettes, I'm guessing they are around 1600ton).

I've read about Vietnam exploring the possibility of getting TOT from Indonesia a while ago. I'm not sure if they are still looking further into that possibility or not.

That LPD offer is interesting, but I'm not sure if VN has the budget to operate such big ship when they need to modernize in other areas. But I could be wrong.
