My real personal experience, right now im still in HaiNan island, later fly to ShenZhen.

Wuling Hongguang MPV produced from SGMW, the brand not belong to GM ! 上汽、通用、五菱三方合资的。上汽集团占股份50.1%,通用汽车占股份34%,五菱汽车占股份15.9%. In the SGMW, GM only seize 34% share and rest belong to Chinese.

Obviously nobody thinks GM owns 100% of a Chinese car company. That isn't how China operates. As you said the vehicle is made by SGMW which is a joint venture between SAIC, GM, and Wuling. I put GM to show it wasn't just all Wuling.

So Trump is gonna kill all those americano car brands now?

Trump's islamophobic xenophobic misogynic supporters probably never know a trade war hurt their own companies even more.

The automobile sector in China continues its strong momentum in January 2017.

According to CAAM (China Association of Automobile Manufacturers), the automobile sales of China in January (passenger vehicles + commercial vehicles) achieves a 0.2% yoy growth.

0.2% is a very minor growth, especially if we compare it with the 14% yoy growth rate of 2016. However, the Chinese New Year 2017 started in Jan. 27th, but the new year of 2016 started in Feb. 7th, which means the January of 2017 is five business days shorter (automobile plants are closed, dealerships stores also closed) than Jan. 2016. Theoretically, this means a 16% decline (5/31=0.16) in automobile sales, but the actual result turns to be a positive 0.2%, indeed a very nice start!!
