Australian Air chief meets with flood victims

ISLAMABAD: Royal Australian Air Force chief Air Marshal Mark D Binskin, visited a medical camp set up by the Australian Medical Task Force at Kot Addu, and met with flood victims on Tuesday.

Previously, Air Marshal Binskin visited the Air Headquarters and called on Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman, chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force.

They discussed matters of professional interest. Binskin has been visiting the country to meet with the Royal Australian Air Force personnel, who had established and had been running a 40-bed mobile hospital, to show solidarity with the Pakistani people and its air force, in this hour of distress. staff report



We never heard much about this great, goodwill gesture by Australian armed forces.

3 PAF air commodores promoted

ISLAMABAD: Air commodores Saeed Muhammad Khan, Javaid Ahmed and Sohail Ahmad have been promoted to the rank of air vice marshal.

Saeed Muhammad Khan has served as an assistant chief of Air Staff Administration at the Air Headquarters, Islamabad.

Javaid Ahmed is serving as an assistant chief of Air Staff Plans at the Air Headquarters, Islamabad.

Sohail Ahmad is serving as assistant chief of Air Staff Development at the Air Headquarters, Islamabad.

CJCSC pays inaugural visit to Air Headquarters

ISLAMABAD (APP): Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Khalid Shameem Wynne on Wednesday called on Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force at Air Headquarters here.

They remained together for some time and discussed matters pertaining to professional interests.The Air Chief and CJCSC exchanged souvenirs at the end of the meeting.

PAF ready to meet all challenges, says air chief

SARGODHA: Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force has said that combat training in the PAF is being maintained at the highest pedestal of realism and responsiveness to meet all contemporary challenges, says a press release.

He was addressing the participants of Combat Commanders’ Course at Combat Commanders’ School, PAF Base, Mushaf on Saturday.

The ceremony marked addition of yet another elite group of Combat Pilots and Air Defence controllers to the mainstream operational units of the Pakistan Air Force.

The air chief said that nature of the threat continues to change & with it the aerial warfare is becoming more complex. The application of air power under new threat dimensions, at different levels and modes would demand utilisation of PAF resources to the maximum and test our resolve.

“It is for this reason alone, that our force structuring and operational training must continue to evolve progressively to meet the future challenge” he said.

He stressed that “although our quest to modernise PAF continues, we must not fall short of our resolve. Besides our modest effort at modernisation we must continue to focus on maintaining our existing assets fully operational & employ all resources optimally to ensure effective Air Defence of our country. With realistic training and resolve, PAF will continue to contribute significantly in the national defence,” he added He expressed his satisfaction over the training and safety standards of the PAF and CCS.
 
Govt providing resources to enhance PAF’s capacity: PM

ISLAMABAD, Nov 30 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani appreciating the professionalism of Pakistan Air Force, Tuesday said that the government was providing all the resources to enhance its capacity.

He was talking to Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman, Chief of Air Staff who called on him at Prime Minister’s House this morning.The Chief of Air Staff apprised the Prime Minister of his recent visit to China where Pakistan Air Force participated in air show.

He also informed the Prime Minister that the performance of Pakistan Air Force was highly appreciated by all the countries participating the event.

Air Chief also discussed with the Prime Minister matters pertaining to Pakistan Air Force and the projects taken up by PAF for capacity building of the PAF officers.

Lodhi made air vice-marshal

ISLAMABAD: Air Commodore Faheem Arshad Lodhi has been promoted to the rank of air vice-marshal who has taken over as air officer commanding Air Defence Command of Pakistan Air Force (PAF).

Lodhi was commissioned in the PAF in November 1980 in Air Defence branch as a top graduate. He has worked in all the main air defence systems of the PAF. He is a graduate of the Combat Commanders School and fellow of Air War College.

Lodhi is also a recipient of Tamgha-e-Imtiaz and Sitara-e-Imtiaz. staff report
 
PAF to provide houses to flood victims for free

KARACHI: The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has launched a rehabilitation plan for the flood victims in simultaneous ceremonies held in all the provinces under Regional Air Commands.

A PAF statement here on Sunday said that the PAF rehabilitation plan aims at providing free of charge construction of houses for flood affected persons who faced maximum devastation during the recent floods.These include areas in and around Mianwali, Daood Khel, Jacobabad, Dera Allahyar, Charsadda and Risalpur. PAF plans to construct over 600 houses and the project would be completed within four months.

The sites for the construction of the houses have been selected in consultation with the local civil administration and due attention has been paid for verification of ownership and damage assessment prior to undertaking the construction process.

The rehabilitation plan is being centrally controlled at Air Headquarters, Islamabad, under the supervision of Regional Air Commands, which will monitor the construction process and ensure timely handing over of the houses to the flood affectees.

The launching ceremony today marks the commencement of third phase of a comprehensive PAF plan to assist the flood victims.

Earlier in Phase-I, PAF rescued the stranded flood affected persons and provided them with relief goods. Subsequently in phase II relocated the victims to flood relief camps established by PAF at Sukkur, Bakhtiarabad, Mianwali, Pir Pathu, Jacobabad and PAF Academy Risalpur.

The plan is being launched under the directive of the Chief of the Air Staff who considers this as a small contribution of the PAF for our brothers and sisters who have been affected by the natural disaster. app
 
PAF to construct 600 houses for flood victims
December 5, 2010

ISLAMABAD: Following the successful completion of rescue and relief operations in flood affected areas, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Sunday launched a project to construct 600 housing units for the shjelterless flood victims. The groundbreaking ceremonies of the project were held simultaneously in all provinces under Regional Air Commands.

The main ground breaking ceremony of the project was held at village Sohrab Khel of District Mianwali in which Air Officer Commanding Northern Air Commands, Air Vice Marshal Mohammad Arif was the chief guest. DCO Mianwali Tariq Mehmood and Base Commander Mianwali Air Commodore Nadeem Shervani were also present on the occasion.

The plan is being launched under the directives of Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman. Under the project, PAF would construct free of cost houses for the flood affectees from its own Flood Relief Fund. Around 600 houses would be constructed in Mianwali, Jaccobabad, Dera Allah Yar, Charsadda and Risalpur within the period of four months.

The chief guest also distributed warm clothes and edible items among the affectees. After the ceremony, he took round of the affected area and talked to the flood victims. The affectees appreciated the initiative of PAF officials for their rehabilitation. Impressed by the relief activities, the locals appreciated and described them ('Angels') who came down from skies to help the suffering humanity.
