Charlie Hebdo print run raised to 5m as copies in France sell out

And Charlie Hebdo was insulting Islam, that's the same as Anti-Semitism (insulting Judaism)

Did Ahmed Merabet (the policeman that was wounded then executed) insult Islam? He was of Algerian heritage and, like eight to ten percent of France's population, Muslim. Malek Merabet, eulogized his brother Ahmed before a small crowd of mourners and, by way of television cameras, much of the world. Read here: Ahmed Merabet's eulogy is the most important thing you'll read on Charlie Hebdo - Vox

Coulibaly gunned down a police officer before killing four people in a Jewish supermarket after Said and Cherif Kouachi massacred 12 people at the offices of Charlie Hebdo. Did those five people Insult Islam in any way?

.
Charlie Hebdo wasn't targeting especially muslims (seriously, stop with it),but the extremists of the Judaism,Christianism,Islam and even of the politic.

Just few exemples :

We are here talking about French hypocrisy in free speech.

.
“Europe should not be importing a message of tension and hostility from the Middle East. It should be exporting a message of coexistence from Europe to the Middle East.”

- Rabbi Jonathan Sacks, former Chief Rabbi of the United Kingdom link
Easier said than done. As you see, any attempt or even the idea of coexistence is fiercely opposed there.

To discuss the cartoonist insults of - amongst other things - Islam but ignore the deaths that are totally unrelated (2 'policiers', 4 'citoyens') is not hypocritical?

.
Playing with fire again, i don't know what they will achieve ? more radicals will come out and more deaths will result. it's inevitable.

. .
Well the morons that attacked them have achieved turning a little known 60k run French magazine into a 5,000,000 + run international sensation
Well you can't put out fire with more fire, it will only result in more destruction.

My friend, if they were targeting "Judaism and Christianism ." , I'd say it is wrong.

If they are targeting Islam, it is wrong as well.

"Freedom of speech" or "freedom of expression" comes with a responsibility and ethics.

If, still the French insists, it is their right to make a mockery of Islam and behave as if it is the ONLY way of expressing freedom / humour / speech, then, good luck to the magazine and good luck to France.

Since when the "civilized" west or the "world community" have started believing in "freedom of speech" which is achieved ONLY by joking and poking fun of some one's religion. Is this the ONLY option left to express your self or your freedom of speech??????

For the curious, you can get Charlie Hebdo online. Google is your friend. I expect any link would result in the post being moderated out.

Not the only option, but it is an option. You can criticize Islam in print or picture, in video, you can do it insultingly, or not insultingly. All are options. Expect all to be used.

The present mood in France or neighbouring nations doesn't seem to be in line with "All are options. Expect all to be used."

Rather it is like "ONLY 1 option ......and it is being used"

Very very regretful.

Well you can't put out fire with more fire, it will only result in more destruction.

and the booming publication is a proof that you cant put out cartoons with fire as well.

.
Now after the acts more people are reading charlie and laughing at their cartoons!! So who exactly won!! In the mean while France have voted to launch air strikes against ISIS in Iraq!! You played with fire now play with missile now

pencil hurts most

It hurts your pathetic insecurities!

I dont have to follow your Islamic laws simply because somebody might feel offended by it if I dont. I only follow the laws of my nation, made and sanctioned by representatives of the people and not some unknown dude who wrote a book 1,400 years ago :hitwall:

I am free to paint cartoons of whoever I want...
I am not advocating genocide or murder, I am not implying that certain groups of people are "bad" or inferior.
I am simply criticizing and mocking actions which I feel are wrong... I am pointing at a person who used violence to force his religious views on others...

If you dont like, you are free to express that in a lawful way... or suck it up.

Otherwise, get out and move to the Islamic terror "state"....

Are there plans to release the magazine in other countries?

I imagine selling digital copies would be much more cost efficient.
