THERE could be a breakthrough in the deadlocked investigation into the bombings in the Samjhota Express and the Jamia Masjid in Delhi.

For the first time, there is an official admission by an Indian investigating agency that these two were on the hit list of Hindutva terrorists involved in Ajmer Sharif, Malegaon and Makkah Masjid in Hyderabad, reported India Today on Sunday.

The Rajasthan Anti-Terrorism Squad’s 806-page charge sheet on the Ajmer blasts says the module behind these three targets had sinister plans to target the Samjhota Express and Jamia Masjid as well. It was not clear though whether this terror cell could execute with its plan.

Over 60 Pakistanis died in the Samjhota Express blast on February 19, 2007, while 13 people were wounded in blasts inside Jamia Masjid on April 14, 2006 - months after this module (according to the Rajasthan ATS) chose them as targets at a meeting chaired by Rashtriya Savak Sangh (RSS) leader Swami Asimanand in February 2006.

The five targets were apparently chosen at a marathon meeting in Gujarat by the module comprising Sadhvi Pragya Thakur, Swami Asimanand, Ramji Kalsangre, Sandeep Dange and Sunil Joshi, the chargesheet says.

“From February 11 to 13 in 2006, Swami Asimanand organised a Shabri Kumbh at his Shabri Dham in Gujarat. All the hardline Hindu activists like Sadhvi Pragya Thakur, Sunil Joshi, Ramji Kalsangre, Lokesh Sharma and Sandeep Dange took part at the meeting and discussed avenging the terror attacks at the Akshardham temple in Gujarat in 2002 and other Hindu religious shrines.

They drew up a list of five targets - Samjhota Express, Makkah Masjid, Malegaon, Ajmer Sharif and Jamia Masjid,” it says.

A source said Lokesh Sharma, the man who did a recce of Ajmer Sharif, confirmed this meeting after his arrest.

The bombs used in the Samjhota Express are believed to have been assembled in Indore. But the suspected bomber, Sunil Joshi, was found mysteriously murdered in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, on December 27, 2007.

These details could let the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is probing the Samjhota Express case, vital leads.

It's in fact a great feature of Indian democracy that we are acting against those who have done wrong and that too without Pakistan pushing for it.

the Pakistani families of the victims of the train bombing have been waiting several years for justice now; so yes, it is indeed a good, smart, and commendable move.

Indeed. Now it is time for Pakistan to take into account India's concerns regarding 26/11.

Pakistan rounded up suspects; main issue is india is the one that wants to keep issue 'alive' by delaying. Also, problem is india asks Pakistan to round up certain individuals when insufficient evidence has been shared.

best to work with the courts, present the evidence, etc instead of going to media and resorting to tabloids tactics

now lets see,
what india does against this ?
always crying , Pakistan did this, Pakistan did that ?

^Do understand that the crime was committed within India and not in Pakistan. Unlike 26/11

Yes people seem to forget this is an internal matter of India and has been dealt with as such. Those who are guilty of terrorism, will be put to justice. There's no two way against it. Our policy makers surely have learnt a lot by watching the western neighbour.

'RSS leader paid for Samjhauta blast' - The Times of India

NEW DELHI: One of the accused in the murder of Sunil Joshi — mastermind of a number of terror attacks involving Hindu radicals during 2006-08 — has also told the investigating agencies about the alleged role of RSS leader Indresh Kumar in giving money for carrying out the blast in the Samjhauta Express train.

Vasudev Parmar, who was arrested by the Madhya Pradesh police in December last year for allegedly killing Joshi, claimed to have told his interrogators that though the group had contacted a number of RSS leaders for help, it was Indresh who supported them by providing Rs 70,000 for the entire operation to bomb the Pakistan-bound train.

Besides Parmar who hails from Dewas in Madhya Pradesh, Anand Raj Kataria of Indore and Harshad Solanki of Gujarat were also arrested in connection with the Joshi murder case. Solanki, an absconder from the 2002 Best Bakery case of Vadodara, was arrested by the Rajasthan police.

Sources in the investigating agencies said that Parmar had also given a detailed account of the meetings held to plan the Samjhauta blast.

Parmar is the second accused who has spoken about Indresh's role in the train blast that had taken place at Deewana near Panipat in Haryana in February 2007. Earlier, another accused Swami Aseemanand — who has already been chargesheeted by the CBI for his role in Hyderabad's Mecca Masjid blast — in his confessional statement before a court in Delhi spoke at length about Indresh's direct and indirect role in one or the other blast carried out by Hindu radicals during 2006-08.

Asked about Aseemanand's claim about Indresh's involvement in financing a number of bomb blasts, a top official in an investigating agency said: "So far, we don't have any corroborative evidence to point at Indresh's criminality, but the RSS leader continues to be on our radar."

About Indresh, the Swami who was arrested by CBI from Haridwar in November last year also claimed that the RSS leader had, in fact, once told him that he should better concentrate on his work among tribals as the "bomb-for-bomb" operation was not meant for him.

"Indreshji told me that this responsibility (bomb-for-bomb) has been given to Sunil and whatever help Sunil needs would be provided by him," claimed Aseemanand in his confession before the court.

Aseemanand, however, also gave a new twist to the entire script stating that Indresh had an ISI link. In his confessional statement, he said that Lt Col Srikant Purohit had once told him that "Indreshji is an ISI agent" and he (Purohit) had all the documents with him about it. He, however, said that Col Purohit had never shown him those documents. Purohit — who had worked with Military Intelligence for many years — is currently in jail in connection with his role in the 2008 Malegaon blast.

I am still in shock that how India allowed Swami Asemanand bring to light the reality of Samjhota express attack. What interests India want to archive while giving Swami Asemanand to court???? :undecided:

hmm....I would say....."India needs to do more"

Like what? Shower the terrorist with rose petals ?

Welcome to secularism. Like it or hate it there is no such thing as state support to terrorism in India, hindutva or islamist. This case does go to prove in Indian courts Justice goes above interests and religion.
Something Pakistan could strive to emulate perhaps?
