Ceding more space to army may harm democracy: opposition

Totally agree. This all happened because of active diplomacy of India while ours was totally absent. But just see that when we pulled even lil strings then we were able to stop all out Indian NSG bid on June 9, even with all out support of US for India. If we are able to run diplomatic missions in full thrust then no wonder we can do wonders.
To do diplomacy A- You should have a big enough economy B- You should have big enough heart to accept the ground realities . we if our diplomats run upside down, we can't stop India from NSG, the only country that stands between India and NSG now is China.

This is actually a positive move if the intentions are genuine. Sadly, that is not true for the government and within the government. There is infighting between the usual feudal mindset of the PML(N) and the progressives within it.
So what's the feudal mindset if NS sought good relationships with Afghanistan-India and Iran?

BTW I am surprised that this statement came from a PTI representative

It doesnt mean we shudnt even give a try.

Pakistan is but chances are close to zero. So try all you can but Pakistan would have to secure every NSG member's approval for inclusion into NSG which is impossible without Pakistan ratifying NPT. Pakistan won't have the kind of support from US that is being lent to India. Just a quick fact, Turkey is also in NSG but the only visual opposition is coming from China, so you may have China and Turkey eventually agreeing on Indian's inclusion because of give and take with US.

For government to actually handle something we need to have a government first but sadly what we have in Pakistan is a pathetic excuse of that. Does NS even look like a PM of Pakistan? How many days has he actually spent in Pakistan and how many abroad? Even to this day he is in UK so who is going to run things from behind with no pm and no FM? Army this time did not wanted to intervene otherwise they would had along ago but the political goons or should I say tazabakar team remain committed on screwing everything from policies within to strategic policies abroad. I am for one happy that army intervened and took control.

“WASHINGTON: The United States has asked Pakistan to put its case before all 48 members of the Nuclear Suppliers Group, instead of seeking individual endorsements for joining the NSG.

That’s a collective decision reached by the members of the group,” said the spokesman, Mark Toner, when asked why the United States was not backing Pakistan’s application.

“India is also pursuing membership into the Nuclear Suppliers Group, but certainly, if Pakistan wants to pursue that, that’s something for all the members of the Nuclear Suppliers Group to consider,” he added.

US President Barack Obama, who met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the White House on Tuesday, announced after the meeting that the United States strongly supported India’s bid to join the NSG.

Later, a senior US official told a news briefing that Washington wanted the NSG to induct India during its annual plenary session which will be held in Seoul, South Korea, on June 23-24.

I think that's the issue. Our Federal Government lead by PML-N is more interested in corruption and kickbacks rather than delivering Governance. As they are not interested in providing Governance to the Nation, this is why the Army has to step in every time to provide relief to the country.

May be they are settling their scores with umpire for not showing the aungli.
Actually ungli was indeed shown but it was pointing towards the door. The producer achieved the big business. Actors only got the salary and not even that.

As a matter of fact right now all our efforts are basically concentrated around the point of preventing India to join NSG and we know we aint going in the group that easily as its US who is backing India even India being the non signatory of NPT. And its also the fact that India aint love bud of US but US is doing all that so that it can pitch India against China and so that India should do the USA's job for it. If we today (just saying) decide to go against China, we would get more than special treatment by US.

Just start doing your Goddamn Job and the military will never interfere in any of the matters, it is only when you incompetent politicians who are not even capable enough to obtain a bachelors degree star planning the future of this country and send us towards ruins the Army is forced to interfere.
Yeah right. 1971, Kargil, Siachen are glaring examples of military's competence. It's the military that needs to start doing its GODDAMN job.

India's luster as a business magnet and a booming market is enough to get US's attention. China US relationships haven't always been to such extent that US would need to raise countries against China. Chinese are smart people, they place economy way above national ego and thus pursue a non-confronting foreign policy.

.
A country where the military runs the foreign policy cannot and will never be taken seriously in international community.

Such countries where generals run the affairs are looked down upon as primitive post-colonial failed states.

Civilian supremacy is essential for international repute.

As a matter of fact American companies are doing business manifolds way in China and their investment in India in comparison to what they have in China is not even worth comparing (I am referring to volume of business not billions of $). So yeah that is why US is not antagonizing China directly.

While India has industrial and economic growth to show the world, we have Raheel Shareef on an Army Jeep driving on some road in the middle of nowhere.

There is absolutely nothing the diplomats can do when Mullah Akhters and OBLs are being droned and killed in our territory.

It doesn't take to be Henry Kissinger to know that foreign policy is the 21st century is driven by economics and not by Hafiz Saeed.
