This is a case of a situation that probably won't end well. The only way for them to become independent is if the Spanish agree to it, and they won't, they'll fight it to the bitter end. I seriously don't see this ending well.
And? They've already rejected Catalonia's intentions of a referendum, deeming it illegal under the Spanish constitution. The Spaniards are an independent nation, and in the end, the EU can do little to force the issue with Spain.Brother, Spain is not located in the Balkans ruled by fanatical Christians. It is a member of the European Union.

the EU wont allow another civil war over this. If the Catalams vote for independence, they will have it. If not, all or most of Europe could become a civil war zone.
