I read it as cat show and then was disappointed that it is about silly obsession with expensive cars.

A car should just be a simple taxi in a transportation ecosystem where there are no privately-owned personal transport vehicles.

I believe transportation is the biggest contributor to global pollution and the middle class of India and China with their neo-rich purchasing money availability are a large part of this problem.

Other than pollution there are the related things of accidents and traffic chaos. This is a report from 2019 :

New Delhi: India has topped the TomTom Traffic Index 2019 with 4 of its cities amongst the 10 most congested cities globally.

Bengaluru (71%), Mumbai (65%), Pune (59%) and New Delhi (56%) ranks 1st, 4th, 5th and 8th respectively.

The other global cities featured amongst the top 10 include Manila from the Philippines, Bogota from Colombia, Moscow from Russia; Lima from Peru, Istanbul from Turkey, and Jakarta from Indonesia.

Location technology specialist TomTom has released the results of the TomTom Traffic Index, a report detailing the traffic situation in 416 cities in 57 countries.

New Delhi takes the 8th spot this year with 56% congestion level (extra travel time stuck in traffic).On an average, Delhiites driving during peak hours spend an extra 190 hours, i.e., 7 days, 22 hours in traffic each year.

The city's heaviest congestion (81%) was recorded on October 23, 2019, while its lowest congestion (6%) was recorded on March 21, 2019.

The TomTom Traffic Index 2019 indicates that the congestion level in Delhi has reduced by 2% compared to TomTom Traffic Index 2018.

Bengaluru takes the top spot this year with city drivers expecting to spend an average of 71% extra travel time stuck in traffic.

On an average,people in Bengaluu driving during peak hours, spend an extra 243 hours, i.e., 10 days, 3 hours in traffic each year.

Mumbaikars driving during peak hours spend an extra 209 hours, i.e., 8 days, 17 hours in traffic each year.

On an average,those in Pune driving during peak hours spend an extra 193 hours, i.e., 8 days, 1 hour in traffic each year.

These problems are very avoidable and very solvable. Just ban privately-owned personal transport vehicles, whether cars or motorcycles or scooters.

There is a planned project in Saudia called NEOM City where there will be no cars ( and I imagine other private vehicles ). Though I have been writing such an idea on PDF for at least the last two years.

Make efficient and more in number the mass public transport ( ideally buses ) and taxis. The taxis can be for a special occasion like a meet at a tea house with friends, business customers etc. The taxis can come with a driver, or can be customer-driven or driven by woman driver in case of you wanting to go out on a romantic long drive with your lover. Further, it will be better if the buses and taxis are electric or other non-petroleum fuel. Also, there can be company-owned four wheelers for non-personal transport like for food delivery, kitchen items delivery, building construction material etc.

This way there will be lot lot less pollution, chaos and accidents. And more harmony.

What a great car show!!!!

One doesn't need to have a brilliant mind to understand ....What do you expect inside a Mall.
Anyone with a little comprehension can see that there are no Toyotas, Suzuki or Fords parked there.
It's an exclusive car exhibition rather than an actual car show.

I agree that we should do more to cut the pollution from transport, e.g. more public transport (more metros, more high speed trains etc), more electric cars; also do more to reduce the traffic accidents, e.g. better education about road safety, development of autonomous driving, development of V2X etc. But these should never been done under the cost of ban the sales and ownership of private cars.

I agree that we should do more to cut the pollution from transport, e.g. more public transport (more metros, more high speed trains etc), more electric cars; also do more to reduce the traffic accidents, e.g. better education about road safety, development of autonomous driving, development of V2X etc. But these should never been done under the cost of ban the sales and ownership of private cars.

In an undisciplined country like India if the government builds a new flyover there will be a few hundred more vehicles purchased. More pollution immediately.

And many of those vehicles will be driven by aggressive young males who will perform speeding and stunts on them. Stunts like two non-helmet-wearing fellows speeding on the road on a motorcycle with the center stand down so as to create sparks ( I have seen this ). There was a well-known case some years ago of a former cricket player's son speeding on his newly gifted expensive motorcycle and losing control and crashing leading to fatal injury. Many such accidents happen, whether with four wheelers or with two wheelers.

Also many motorcycle riders ride up on the footpath, trouble the pedestrians and create even more chaos.

Also to speak of many young males who tamper with the silencer of two wheelers and make noise.

Also to speak of the pollution not only caused directly by the vehicles in movement but also the secondary pollution caused by the vehicle manufacturing industry including up to the raw materials mining. Even electric vehicles and hydrogen fuel vehicles will not be able to offset secondary pollution if privately-owned personal transport vehicles are allowed. How many million need to be produced ?

So pollution, disharmony and health risks in totality.

All this can be easily removed by simply banning ownership of personal transport vehicles. Think of how much the world will gain harmony and how much disharmony will disappear.

Lastly, metro rail in cities mostly exists because the government wants to push more people to transit in addition to the congested roads below. If the road traffic is simplified then metro rail need not exist.
