I don't want to offend Turkey, or Turks. I am Turkey China relationship supporter. I always insist that Pakistan was/is Turkey China best bridge. A good Turkey China relationship benefit both countries, especially Turkey in the middle of BRI land route.

This post is just my observation about Turkey economy. As a nobody, I just wondering if this economy can support Erdogan's foreign policy for long term?

Does Erdogan's foreign policy serve Turkey national interest?

With 70 cents in the treasury, Turkey went out to liberate the Turkish Cypriots using an amphibious assault against Greece, the grandparents of the Western Civilization! Even when the Ottoman Empire was going down one third of the male folks lost their lives in wars....

Now, indigenously produced drones (each worth a couple of million $s and armed with munitions costing a couple of hundred $s) are taking down the Russian made systems (costing 10s of million $s) left and right....

The expeditions in Libya and the East Med will result in complete energy independence among other “economic” benefits! It means 50b $s savings per year....

True. Some nation dare to sacrifice short term benefit for long term benefit. If your claim on East Med is true, applaud to you and Turkey.

Any solid and creditable data to back your claim on East Med?

Israil has already found a big reserve. Hence, the exploration is going on...

IC, so data is still unclear.

Many claimed SCS has as much oil as Gulf, but no one drill yet!!!

The claim itself create intensive competition and geopolitical confrontation, but what if there is not much oil at all? Who benefit from the chaos?

Israel just found some small reserves of natural gas. The real energy needs are for petroleum. Gas to petroleum conversion is very inefficient and wastes about 50% of the energy. Israel is just exaggerating as being a small country and surrounded by large enemies, they need to keep the morale up. Similarly, Turkey too could not find any meaningful reserves of oil. If there was any large reserves of oil, then EU & USA would have exploited it long time back especially during 1970s oil embargo and cold war struggle. NATO tried to explore oil in a frenzy after the 1970s and even countries like UK which produced very limited oil started exploiting its oil reserves from 1980 due to the explorations. As a result, if there was any major reserve in a NATO friendly location, it would have been found by now.

Sometimes, I wonder about that too...but Turkey could pursue it's national interests decades ago when we were literally broke... so, i can say government would find a way, they always did.

Does Erdogan's foreign policy serve Turkey national interest?
Yes and No.

- Intervention in Libya? Yes.
- Intervention in Syria? Yes.
- Intervention in Iraq? Yes.

- Making enemy out of Israel, Egypt, KSA, UAE...i don't think so.

Hey, dude. People changed. What Turkey can do 30/40 years ago, what China can do 30/40 can do, may not feasible today. Time changed, most importantly people mindset changed.

When Soviet rise, those true Soviets can sacrifice and do their duty for their country. They can defeat Nazi Germany, they can tolerate 20 millions dealth.

When Soviet fall, those Soviets became Oligarchies, just like Americans today. They stand in line for bread, riots, overthrown their own government. Their army just stand still, do nothing to stop the collapse.

What Kemal can do, what Chairman Mao can do, what Stalin can do, may not be feasible today.

We need subtle observation, and see the nuance in history.

Yes, because as I wrote in the former thread u failed to understand what the issue or primary problem with the turkish economy is and that is a temporary and fixable one and we are fixing it right now.

I just pray and hope this libyan intervention end with complete success inshaAllah. Both libya and turkey will benefit economically for the next few generations. The libyan move was a bold and daring move by erdogan supported by mhp. The move for qatar was daring as well by Erdogan and I remember turkish members on pdf were holding their breath and worried about the risk of confronting ksa and uae and lesser extent israel and the US. Actually alot people take erdogan as a soft and a feeble leader and under estimate his resolve. Erdogan by his appearance are deceiving as he acts humble but he has balls of steel and has a nature of fighting back

Looks like you've been brainwashed with gulenist/kemalist/pkk narrative. Presidential palace is not erdogans house, it belong to the state and future presidents will occupy it in turns. With your logic white house must be owned by trump?
