Can India fight war on two fronts with China & Pakistan? Gen VP Malik answers
Jun 21, 2020 14:12 IST
The escalation of tensions with China at the border in Ladakh means India now has to tackle two hostile neighbours. Pakistan has consistently kept the border boiling and its friendly ties with China has made the possibility of a war on two-fronts a distinct possibility. So is the Indian Army equipped to tackle the dual threat at the border? Watch what former Army Chief General VP Malik had to say on the issue in this exclusive interview with Hindustan editor-in-chief Shashi Shekhar.

What did he say?

we "managed" one boarder
and
the other boarder we protected correctly.

we can defend our border easily..even if our assets are low as compared to China but our "skill", "determination" and "mountain warfare" is better than china...so we have the capacity to fight a war with china..

Ladakh area is in trouble given the proximity to both Pakistan and china

can we manage two front war... yeah easily..
we can easily kick Pakistan with no repercussions from china....

. . . .
most of Indian europhia with respect to china comes from the fact that Chinese have concentrate most of their forces on eastern region whereas India in Kashmir ..
this is noteworthy with respect to airbases..india does have more airbases in Kashmir and Punjab which is closer to ladakh than what china operates in its western theatre...

this is all based upon assumption than china will not utilize its other airbases or move its assets towards western theatre....

historical india thinks china will not intervene either given damage to the economy.. Indians put it as "india is more important to china because of our market size than ladakh or pakistan"

No, India really can't manage a full fledged war against Pakistan-China combine unless nukes get involved. Heck, India can't even 'win' in an offensive war against Pakistan. The defensive nature of Pakistan's war capabilities are more than adequate to repulse India and that fact is known to all in the world.
The big question here is: How far will China go for Pakistan and how far will Pakistan go for China? If that question is settled and if nukes are factored in, then I believe the combine Pakistan-China can grab a lot of territory from India. Big IFs, yes, but the possibilities, if not probabilities are there.

He said what a low IQ sanghi wanted to listen.

I think he pretty much covered all the important sound bites.
noone can define
"fighting spirit",
"experience",
"mountain warfare capabilities(Excluding equipment & infrastructure..where china is far better)" ..

and these are the areas where he thought india was better

forget about i1962 that doesnt exist

india has no first use nuke polciy..so to me it makes no sense that india will go for nukes if limited war happens in tibet or kahsmir region..but again its difficult to predict what india will do..

one thing is for sure..America and ofcourse russia will not get involved..this delusion needs to be put at rest

even in case of Taiwan American will not get involved..
when it comes to japan things are different as American armed forces are sitting there

Chinese MBRLs in Tibet take out pretty much all major Indian cities and bases in North and North East India while India will have hard time to reach eastern Chinese cities.

These are the same Indians who use to profess that single child Chinese cannot fight until 200+ of their soldiers have been hacked to death mercilessly by the Chinese.

What did he say?

He said, the "two-front war" concept until now meant talking to one country and fighting with the other. As this has now totally changed after Galwan Conflict, India will have to change its defence, political and economic policies with China.

He also said, the area where Chinese and Pakistanis are quite close to each other but separated by India, that area is now in serious danger because both countries have same interests in the region. Pakistan wants control over the entire Siachin Glacier area while China wants to secure Karakoram area as well as Shaksgam Valley.

this analyst wouldn't dare say India would lose, if he did so they would immediately label him as traitor.
