BD has about 21 million acres of farmlands and it produces two crops in a year. Even then the country has a shortage of all kinds of foods including rice, the staple food because its yield is very low comparing to other major rice-producing countries. I am not sure of India, though.Thanks. I stand corrected then.
It is ridiculous though- rice, our staple food which we produce in such vast amounts, costs more than wheat, which we must depend on imports. That is absolutely not natural.
But, Taiwan, Japan, S.Korea or the Burmese yield per acre is much higher than BD. They have better quality lands and BD lands lack many organic matters. So, the yield is low although the farmers spread a lot of INORGANIC fertilizers. I think you know what are these fertilizers.
