If the riot took place in subcontinent (india, Bangladesh, Pakistan), I would strongly claim it as a cunning politicians' game. There has to be some starting point so was the rape incident. There had been many such in the history of subcontinent and all were ignited by Hindu/Muslim politicians for their interest. Civilian people (of various religions) living in a locality don't get engaged in riot before being fueled by ill headed politicos. Now for Burma I think something similar to subcontinent took place and that rape thing was preplanned to ignite fire in two ethnic people. If it weren't a planned game, there would be incidents of cops arresting the criminals, punishing them...instead of that we've seen a riot where one ethnic identity is going to be vanished from the world (with consecutive similar oppression for long).

A Buddhist girl was raped in Rakhaine state aka Arakan! The boy who raped was a rakhaine, but he used to roam with Rohingyas... Some people started to spread leaflets and hate based on the allegation, they also tried to ignite communal riot previously ... Anyway, angry rakhaine mobs killed 10 innocent muslims... After that They started to vandalize muslim houses .... According to sources, police also took part in vandalism. Those who tried to resist got killed and others fled!

Bodi is the MP of Teknaf. He and his dad Ezahar Company are the top smugglers on this border having good relations with the Na Sa Ka as well as some local leaders across the border.

1. Maungdaw and other townships nearer th Naf are in BD cell phone coverage. People here use BD cell phones as there is none from Burma. Therefore, first hand info is getting through.

Rohingya's will be kicked out in phases, I am sure they have a secret plan and everything is going according to plan. If Bangladesh is cowardly nation, we should just let them in and make them our citizen and get some help from other countries through UN, OIC etc. I think Bangladesh as a country do not have the courage to face facts and deal with them, the result is this pathetic Rohingya situation. All other countries around Burma have helped their ethnic kin to fight insurgency war and as a result get concession from the Burman tribe led govt. Mao said one thing right, political power comes from the barrel of a gun.

No offense, just a tip for you. Can you just type your comments first in MS-Word, it has many auto suggestion on spelling as well as grammar that would help improve your writing? It's tedious for everyone to extract the meaning of your quotes and you post yours for others not for you...right?

The Burmese are belligerently predictable.

These guys got their as*es handed back to them by the new demarcation ruling. They are just throwing tantrums taking it out on the unfortunate Rohingyas.

This is indeed a shameful act on part of rhe Burmese, however still not strong enough cause for military actions.

Three death sentences given in rape-murder of Rakhine woman

A Burmese court on Monday convicted three men in the rape, robbery and murder of Thida Htwe on May 28, and gave each the death sentence. The young woman’s murder led to revenge murders by rioting mobs in Rakhine State during the following weeks.

The men were identified as Rawphi, Khochi and Htet Htet. The authorities said that Htet Htet committed suicide on June 9 in Kyaukphyu Prison, where the other two men are being held. All of the men are Muslims.

The first hearing of the case was conducted on June 8 at the Kyaukphyu District Court.

The convicted men can file an appeal against the verdict within seven days, Ba Shein, a Member of Parliament, told Mizzima.

“For the death sentence, the Supreme Court in Naypyitaw must approve the death sentence within seven days. And the convicted men can file an appeal within seven day if the Supreme Court confirms the death sentence,”he said.

More than 30 people attended the hearing.

Thida Htwe, 26, was a resident of Thabyaychaung village in Ramee Township, Arakan State.

The sectarian rioting that followed has claimed at least 50 lives and more than 2,000 homes have been burned. Thirty thousand refugees have fled their homes to seek shelter and protection in government camps.

The region was placed under a state of emergency on June 10, and the military has taken over the administrative control of Arakan State.
