Bullet train wars heat up: Exhibition on China's high speed railway launched in Indonesia

The only export achievement of Japanese HSR is the Taiwan metro line that was built for over 20 years. And now Taiwan's metro line face the bankruptcy problem at any time because of Japanese heavy maintenance service charge.

well problem is, Indonesia is not Taiwan. heck, the construction isn't even started yet. until it completes (depending on who wins the bid) then we can see the problem after some time. Taiwan HSR bankruptcy is a good input. but it has nothing to do with Indonesia.

It's not Indonesia can't live without HSR, as an archipelago country, more ports and airports is more urgent to me.... and for intra islands infrastructure especially in Java, more lines for commercial railway like cargo train is more urgent (to me) to alleviate some burden from the already existing roads and railway.

Very Bad News for Taiwan HSR. They Wrong to choose Japanese to build HSR in Taiwan !
Thanks for the Information.

If Japan Win this bidding,
I Just can Hope, They will not Charge Indonesian Passenger with Expensive Ticket Price.
With their High Development Cost and High Maintenance Cost!

With the Future Outlook in here, Indonesian Economic is not in Good Shape too.
We Lucky if Indonesian Economic can Reach 4,5 - 4,6% Growth This Year! :(

And also I work in here, Jakarta. In a Banking Corporation.
Many my friend have Bad Predictions for Indonesian Economic for 5 years ahead.
Indonesian Rupiah Value have been Dropped so much this year, Almost reach 14,000 Rupiah for 1 US Dollar, yesterday.

Many Importers and Manufacturer in Here, have Net Loss in their Income Statement for this year.

Indonesian People doesn't Want Expensive Ticket Price for Mass Transportation.
I personally, Hope China can win this bidding. So, Many Ordinary people in here can use that HSR. :)

Ahh... well... we just have to wait till the end of August or September to find out who's the winner. International Independent consultant will be hired to assess the 2 proposals and give their impartial judment as valuable input for government to decide the winner.

Seriously, I don't give a damn who wins the project. Me, a Chinese patriot and our Chinese compatriot aren't here to prove our ability, and to who?
We must work hard and as long as our trains do not have any mishaps I am grateful and satisfied.
Really! Why even some Chinese member here trying to defend our HSR desperately? Is it out of desperation? Why even care what others think about our HSR? We don't need to beg, it looks pathetic! Stand up and be proud of our HSR and our mother land!
Love you our motherland! (China)

Thanks for the heads up. What a mess.

Before Mumbai, Delhi got our coaches. The Indian capitol never rains perhaps

Chinese bullet train maker sells coaches to Delhi Metro

and then after Mumbai, Kolkata:

Kolkata Metro set to get China made trains - The Times of India

With Malaysia and Indonesia currency crashing, HSR railway will most probably postponed.

Not really, instead it will be a good opportunity for foreign firm to invest in Indonesia and Malaysia, with less money they can invest more at our country

I agree with you. I'm very proud of our HSR. It is the unappreciated by others no matter what we do. We could run our HSR with 100x more passengers than the world COMBINE in daily operation, with no accident for 10 years.. but if just one minor accident do occurs, we are toast. The West media will badmouth and use the opportunity to destroy our reputation, and these cheerleaders will cheer. This is why we can't win because the West control the world media and the public opinion because English is the global language.

Like I said, I hope the Japanese win so we get to see how they operate HSR in a foreign country in a cost-effective and safety manner. The Taiwanese are stupid to choose Japan HSR so they deserve to get bankrupt. Our focus should be Central Asia, Latin America. building HSR for them is more enjoyable and worthwhile.

All factors considered. In this phase, the most important thing for Indonesia is to push out all the pressure group from both China and Japan to let the government objectively assess and decide their proposals. Government should consider all factors within this HSR project scope. Whether the technology, safety and comfort, overall cost, payment term, ticket pricing and passenger volume estimation, construction time and comprehensive penalty clause for delay, etc.

The unsatisfied bidder with their noisy cheerleader and supporter better be ignored.

Indeed, but the plan is to build this HSR parallely with all the other infrastructure projects. That's why the source of funding for this project should be clean and clear, and shouldn't take funding quota for more urgent infrastructure projects.

Indonesian People doesn't Want Expensive Ticket Price for Mass Transportation.

Both proposals quote under $20 for ticket pricing.
