Buckle Up India :Bullet train between Delhi-Chennai planned

We don't need this bullet crap, not at this time anyway. Travelled to Delhi early this year, traffic is just horrible, especially at peak hours. Add dirty, dusty to the list as well.
Capital city of NEXT SUPERPOWER shouldn't be like this.
This is not China with Single party CCP rule where the Government cant confiscate land and forcibly remove residents for Development projects. To Acquire land in cities for road widening and new infrastructure process in a Democracy is a slow one.Civilians go to court against the Government stalling development projects for years. The Land Acquisition Bill is one such bill which seeks to speed up the process of Infrastructure if you want to compete on a global scale, you need world class infrastructure.
In my city big flyover projects were stalled for almost 10 years because of civilians putting case after case against AP government in courts. Now its over finally.

There is one more guy on this page with fake identity of bieng hindu
He is a mullah masquerading as a Hindu.

I'm pro-HSR globally, in India, Russia, Europe, and of course China.
For those who don't believe in HSR network in India, see my thread The modern railway protection movement of China
Year ago, a lot of Chinese were the same skeptical as a lot of Indian members here. It's a natural process.

Let me introduce the busiest HSR corridor(semi HSR , 200-250kph) in my province(Hubei Province) in Central China. I think this will be an useful reference for you.
Yichang City-Wuhan City(my hometown, the provincial capital, Yichang is where Three Gorge Dam is located)
Distance: 300km
Time: around 2 hours
stops: 4-6 midway stops ( total 6 midway stops)
Train number: 56 pairs in a normal day, 60-70 pairs in holidays
Passenger volume index: always>100% (in bullet trains in China, maximum 10-15% standing tickets are available)
Ticket fare: second class 84.5 yuan (roughly 868 rupees), first class 102.5yuan (1052 rupees)

A comparison of coaches on this line before HSR is available
Time: 4-5 hours (if no traffic congestion on the expressway)
Ticket fare: 150yuan
frequency: every 15 minutes
(now, only who is not able to buy HSR tickets because all tickets are sold out will resort to coaches, which is now only 100yuan)

An intermediate station called Jinzhou on this line
(12 May, 2015, Tuesday)

Second class, huge enough for most people

@Rajaraja Chola I remember you are from Chennai, isn't it?
A >1500km HSR line, mostly people will not cover the whole distance, however, there will be at least 20-30 midway stations and there will be a lot of short-distance services. In China, at least 80% passengers of HSR take a distance less than 1000km. Below 1000km(some argue 1200-1300km), airplane has no competitiveness. For distance above 100-200km, bus has no competitiveness. (in corridor like Wuhan-Yichang, Shanghai-Nanjing, even for 60km, people choose HSR if the frequency is high).

We need that in Pakistan!

We need HSR in developing countries around the world, HSR is not supposed to be only enjoyed by people in France, Germany, Japan and SK, etc. People in USA are not willing to enjoy it, since their whole transportation sector is hijacked by air industry and car industry, most Americans who have tried HSR in China love it as far as I know.

For those countries with a huge population, HSR is much more efficient than any transportation methods. For example, u cannot build airports every 100 kilometres between Beijing-Shanghai(1300km), but u can build a station every 50-100km, let all people enjoy better transportation and lower prices than airplane. Today, there are 37 bullet trains from Beijing to Shanghai(1300km), for Nanjing-Shanghai section(300km), 171 bullets trains!

Bullet train between Delhi-Chennai planned

According to media reports, the $32.6 billion estimated New Delhi-Chennai high-speed rail project covering a distance of 1,754 km w........

No sense whatsoever at this point in time.

If India doesn't seize the best chance now, wait until it will cost 100 billion. Thank god most trunk lines in China are finished. I cannot calculate how much it will cost if we build Shanghai-Beijing HSR today, excessive land acquisition cost from greedy Chinese will just double or triple the total investment.

No matter, it's not absolutely necessary. Certainly not this route, not this distance. $32 billion is a ridiculous figure

Chinese said the same thing ten years ago.
Now those from where there are no HSR, they are fighting for it bloodily.
Some fake experts said nobody would take HSR from Wuhan to Yichang, now every train is full. (50-70 pairs daily)

U just make sure those who lost their land or houses become millionaires and resettle in a free house...My apartment will be demolished for the CBD and metro construction next year. Make sure at least half of the investments for compensation...It becomes more and more expensive.
One of the reason that bloody demonstration in Linshui County happened is that they want their housed demolished apart from having better transportation. Maybe it is kind of redistribution of wealth.

Sri Lankans are whining about "environmental destruction" at every single express way, port, factory etc. Beside that those who lose property also get good compensation. Just recently, a poor part of Colombo was razed down and the people got high rise apartments as compensation.
