Buckle Up India :Bullet train between Delhi-Chennai planned

.
in case of indian raiways, freight trains subsidise passenger ones, I am skeptical of this being economically viable as the cost wil run into billions of dollars.
Our airports are not congested, we can build additional capacity much more quickly. In short to medium term, this is waste of money, they better spend it on upgrading railways infra and build more freight corridor. And no, you cant do both unless you get into massive debt.

Well I'd expect that the 'rich' people who will take this won't be subsidized. The competition is with the people who spend on airlines. For, say 60% of the airfare you get to the same place but maybe a bit more time.

for long distances
airplane is still a better choice than bullet train
for shorter routes like Delhi - Jaipur, Mumbai - Pune, Bangalore - Chennai

bullet trains can prove to be handy

Domestic air traffic in India has started to grow a lot in recent years. Tickets are really expensive as well. I had to pay 10k return flight from from Delhi to Bangalore :/ And that was the cheapest. The other option of great Indian railways I do not even know from 20 hours to 30 hours on 1 side is not even an option. If HSR can do it at 50% prices in 6-8 hours instead of 2-3 hours by plane I would gladly take it.

Did you reported his post for trolling!?

You do not have to be racist. I hate racism more than anything. You have to be on the receiving end to know how it feels.

bullet trains are hugely expensive you wont get that price point.. besides as @Archie said its too long distance.
You will have to run many bullet trains to make it viable, I doubt we got that sort of traffic. People would rather take a detour than pay toll fee(toll roads need 10 to 20 years to make any money), so I wont know how much traffic you can divert to bullet train. Basically you cant.

If they do decide, I would expect them to have separate corporation and raise money from market or via debt financing(without soverign guarantee), let people who can dream pay. Market usually gets this sort of things right.

South Korea has agreed 10 billion $ for these projects and China has 40 $ billions. Funding is not even a problem right now lol

Of course it has to be a separate corporation like how we use for metro rails. This cannot be under Railway ministry in the traditional sense.

you mean they have stake, I got no problem. Huge problem if its just debt we need to pay back whether we succeed or fail (manage to generate revenue)

corporation not only in management, corporation as in separate private entity, not financed by govt/taxpayer, debt not guaranteed by govt. Basically nothing guaranteed by govt (say like enron where taxpayer still took hit)

High-speed trains are simply not for you lot。

You deserve in the slow lane。:D

Our lord Chinese please give us our right to travel in bullet trains:victory1: :thank_you2:

And let us kick your *** by producing better quality bullet trains in India and export to other countries .Like we did in metro rail projects :yay:
