Baby Sarah

Sat, 23 Oct 2010 6:11p.m.

British multi-millionaire James Caan has apologised for trying to buy a baby during a charity visit to Pakistan.

The entrepreneur was in the flood stricken country to select a village to rebuild, when he suffered what he called a moment of madness.

According to The Daily Mail, Mr Caan, 49, offered 100,000 Pakistani rupees for the baby, in what he calls an ‘emotional response’.

The parents of baby Sarah are furious at the millionaire’s actions, saying despite their poverty they do not sell their children.

“I am not a trader of children,” says Sarah’s father Noor Daraz Khan.

“I can beg for my children, but I cannot even think to sell them.”
Mr Caan, a father-of-two, says he regrets his actions.

The bid for the baby was captured by cameras from ITV News at Ten.

You can't chalk this up for generosity as the offer was a measly 100,000 rps :D

You have to understand the culture, adoption is not allowed in Pakistan. Financial support is okay and anyone who just wants to show generosity can help the kid in Pakistan and with the kids biological parents.

The excessive commercialism of western countries has destroyed the mentality of their people and eroded their sense of humanity. They see everything in dollar, pounds and euros.

Asim this is news to me... I have more than one cases of adoption in my family... and all are legally endorsed.

Perhaps i misunderstood your point but that's true it is not the present culture in Pakistan to sell babies.

Not allowed in Pakistani culture to give away our children.

If both parents die, then usually the grandparents or an immediate uncle or aunt takes care of the child.

If the child is an orphan and has no one then you can adopt the child from an orphanage but they dont give Muslim orphan children to non-muslims in Pakistan.

I think according to Pakistan’s constitution, you can adopt a child, but cannot take him/her with you outside Pakistan…..….where you are not constitutionally bound or where law of Pakistan cannot approach you or question you about the child…..…but this is what I heard once, not sure about it’s legal status.

This will give you an idea about some questions regarding these matters.
Pakistan Adoption

He is just human and did not do any thing wrong. He atleast try to help muslims and other Pakistani compare to our own rich ppl who are also our leader open water to kill there own muslims and Pakistani ppl.

Guys he was born in Lahore Pakistan. He is a British Pakistani.
his father is Muslim, he is muslim his real name is Nazim Khan.
He changed his name with the actor of movie Godfather. he does know about Pakistan culture and values, and he was not adopting the child himself he has got 2 daughters, he was adopting the child for his brother's family.

If any one was in that position ( seeing the destruction caused by floods ) one would try to do something which we think is not right. anyway he did apologise
for that thing and he is now adopting the whole village buy rebuilding it and we should appreciate this.
