Call it whatever you want, but Bhagyanagar was the name of the city before Islamic invaders came.The temple is that of Lakshmi not Bhagmati and there is enough proofs to prove it.

The temple is of Goddess Lakshmi, that everyone knows. But it is at most a couple of decades old. I am sceptical to the notion that the city was called Bhagyanagar before the Islamic invaders came. Sample the names of the city and the places around. A name like Bhagyanagar does not fit in at all.

You do know that Golconda fort was named after Golla Konda (Sheperds hill) before the Nizams came there was a fort ruled by Kakatiya Dynasty from Warangal.The name Bhagyangar comes from that time before the Islamic Invaders came.

the quran, as has been pointed many times on pdf, speaks about three times prayer but doesn't describe the method of prayer... the five times prayer and the method came in later, promoted by the hadith works whose first tracts appeared more than 100 years after the death of prophet muhammad... it is almost certain that the five times prayers was influence of the pre-islam iran zoroastrian culture... i don't accept the hadiths as being greater than quran or even true in most cases.

i haven't prayed in years... in fact i don't know what is prayer.

It has as much chance as the Bhagmati story to be true, slightly more if you ask me because someone who named their kids PratapaRudra could have easily named a city as Bhagyanagar.

But some details of the Bhagmati story do add up. The Qutub Shahis were known to tolerate and even promote local languages. Not surprising if the guy developed a liking from his wife.

Initially I was not in favor of Bombay being renamed as Mumbai (using power!) ..Shiv sena after coming to power did only 2 things, built bridges (good job) and re-named streets/places/parks by the name of their idols including father and mother of Bal Thackery!!!!!...not much different than what Mayawati did in UP... ..

But over the period of time, I actually started liking it calling Mumbai..it sounds much sweeter than Bombay! But my grandpa used to call it Bombay until his last breath as for him it was too much of change at his age!

And, I still see Bombay High Court and Madras High Court didn't become party in the rechristening ceremony!

Nor IIT's and IIM's in their respective places. Still it is called IIT-Madras. Still people in villages use the name Madras. Its kinda colloquial to our people and people still love that old name. There was a movie named "Madras" which released last year and it became an cult classic.

Any Marathi person, when speaking in Marathi, has always called it Mumbai (even when the 'official' name was Bombay). Still calls it Mumbai. So this is not just the decision of some political party.

Indian's are so fickle and shallow.

Firstly the guy who wants to call Mumbai Bombay is an Indian origin guy.
Most Brits could care a F..k what Mumbai or Bombay is called so don't tarnish a nation as without us you would be 287 princely states squabbling over water.
Lastly the High Court in Bombay calls itself Bombay High Court but ur are too scared to challenge it.
Heck we fought a war with the US but still there is a place called Manchester there.

They did. At least that is what history tells us. Most names around Hyderabad are either Turkish or based on local tribal naming which does not conform to Sanskrit naming like Bhagyanagar. The Bhagmati story might be a fake. But so might me the theory that it was named after a goddess. Whatever way you argue definitely the temple near Charminar is a new construction. Has no basis in history.
