Britain's Defence Secretary Michael Fallon Saturday said hundreds of British troops will be sent to Iraq next year to help train local forces to fight against Islamic State(IS).

Fallon told in an interview with The Telegraph that "very low hundreds" of British troops will be deployed to Iraq to training Iraqi and Kurdish forces to fight against IS militants in January, Xinhua reported.

The report said a small "force protection" deployment of combat-ready soldier will also be sent to those areas to protect military training teams.

The secretary revealed the teams will be located at four centers in Iraq, including one in the Kurdish region and three others close to Baghdad.

Details of the new deployment have not been disclosed yet. The Telegraph said there are 50 British troops inside Iraq training local forces currently.

The report said the "the new mission represents the first significant deployment of ground force since the last British troops withdrew from Iraq three years ago," and "marks a new stage in Britain's involvement in the fight against jihadists in Iraq and Syria."

"Our role now, apart from the air strikes, is increasingly going to be on training," said the secretary, adding the training would include dealing with car and truck bombs, roadside devices and basic infantry skills, which British troops have learnt from the experiences in Afghanistan.

Good Move by our armed forces. We need to help the Iraqi government get rid of these islamist scums called ISIS.

Its saying for training of Iraqi and Kurdish forces. Germany is even giving training to Kurdish forces.

One in Kurdish region and 3 near Baghdad.

Nobody.... Assad is by far the lesser of two evils.:chilli:

So basically, the US, Britain, and the Gulf wasted hundreds of thousands of dollars on armed groups to get rid of a dictatorship, created an enemy state, and now are going to waste hundreds of thousands of dollars and thousands of lives to defeat that enemy state, while not even succeeding in their previous objectives? Why are you cheering about this? This is an immense failure.

Britain isn't going to fight another war in Iraq let alone Syria because we don't have the necessary armed forces for it any more. Our role in Iraq is the same as that of the Gulf states in Syria: act as a token force to pretend it's a genuinely international operation rather than a US dominated one.

Yes I know its a major failure by our politicians/officials who miscalculated and naively thought the 'FSA alias jihadists/terrorists/ISIS' where fighting for freedom/democracy. Lool I know they can be really dumb to believe such bullshit. Thats why I was always against any attempt to remove Assad from power/topple him by our governments in the west/U.S . if the Syrian people were really against him they will have toppled him themselves (I don't believe the majority were). Same with Libya where our leaders foolishly toppled Gaddafi thinking the opposition was some Kind of saints/democrats fighting for democracy/freedom. Lool not knowing that they were hardcore jihadists/terrorists who have made Libya to turn from Africa's wealthiest country to a failed state akin to Somalia. :hitwall: Its even more shocking to see gulf states who are more dictatorial/repressive than anything Syria or Libya had now preaching about freedom for the Syrian people. Devils advocate for real.

If I had my way I will prosecute our leaders who were responsible for such foolish decisions/crimes against humanity. But I know it won't happen, since the world is made for the strong, the weak hand no say. :chilli:
