Breaking News: U.S. To Ban Russian Oil Imports

Or working with gulf countries to build pipelines through Iraq into Turkey and onwards to Europe, so Europe can transition away from Russian oil and gas ASAP.

More likely the Iranians are going to come out on top.

Yeah, it’s the cheapest and fastest solution. Btw, Biden should just let oil and gas companies drill more, to make up for the 637,000 barrels just cut. The US shouldn’t be importing oil and gas if we have domestic production. We also should be building nuclear power plants like France to transition away from fossil fuels and provide cheap reliable electricity carbon neutral electricity. This is the time to invest in 50-100 new nuclear power plants throughout the country. If the Democrats hope to win in November, they have to pull a Bill Clinton, and be practical.

The Democrats are never going push nuclear powerplants due to the Liberal tree huggers so just don't even put that out on the table. Everything but solar is a menace to them.

Yes, and whose type of government is at fault for that?

Ok since you are insisting democracy is the reason for a country's development and Chinese kind of system not.

Then explain this to me: Why the world's largest democracy is like a dumping place whereas her neighbor with the "rotten system" of governance is almost a superpower ?

If you ask a common person in any third world country, they would most probably go for any system of governance which brings stability and progress to the country.
Nobody gives a shyt about fake fancy democracy shemocracy.

Republic of India was founded in 1947, the People's republic of China was founded in 1949. India started in a much better shape since it wasn't ravaged by the century long continuous wars China went through which basically destroyed everything in the country. Two countries also have similar size of the population.

That’s why they are gonna lose in November. Republicans conservative leaning democrats are not gonna push for it either, because they want oil companies to maximize profits.

Biden has to be the one to drag his party to ask for nuclear power plants or it’s not gonna happen, just like he made the infrastructure Bill a priority.

US is willing to overlook

Venezuala's dictator rule

Saudi Arabia's killing of Jamal khashoggi

Iran's nuclear plans
defeat in detail strategy, only enough energy to take on a major power like the Russians (or two smaller powers) at this time, and will probably come back for the Iranians and the Venezuelans when that is over.

This is exactly my point.

If democracy is such a magic, which brings prosperity, stability and general progress, as that person was telling us to believe, then why the "largest democracy" of the world is such a shyt hole?

And why a "third rate" governance system like in China is so successful to elevate it to the next super power status?

Democracy is the worst form of the government and a curse on any country.

This is the reason why US, China and Pakistan have never been a true democracy like India.

The costs are front loaded, but the pay off in terms of clean energy is there. It’s true, with a 20 year construction and commissioning window, it doesn’t look promising.

No, I never said that. I'm saying he's specifically pointing at our Democracy as failing to solve societal ills. I'm saying China's system isn't exactly without its own faults.

I never said everybody should. If you want a dictator go right ahead. Whatever works for you to put you into a developed country status like Singapore, Taiwan, and South Korea.

At least our opinions can be noted (not necessarily acted upon) by the Government...vs some Governments that simply discourage polling because they don't want to know. :coffee:
Correction, your government doesn't "note" your opinions, they shape your opinions.
The civilian suffering that is happening in Ukraine is like a drop in the ocean when compared to the suffering in Yemen. Yet we aren't seeing anywhere near the outcry in the US public regarding Yemen when compared to the outcry about Ukraine. That is due to a combination of deep rooted racism (even among the leftists) in addition to the overwhelming influence the establishment has over the simple minded Americans (which constitute the majority of the American people).

No, they are noting the US opinion on Yemen. The problem is the answer is exactly what somebody in Iraq would say about a situation in a country like Guatemala:
"I just don't really give a sh*t"

Most Americans back banning Russian oil even if domestic gas prices jump: poll

According to a Quinnipiac University survey released on Monday, 71% backed a Russian oil ban even if it further increased gas prices, with 22% opposed. Eighty-two percent of Democrats, seven in ten independents and two-thirds of Republicans surveyed said they supported a ban.
