The Federal Intervention Office (GIF in Portuguese) will receive 16 Iveco Lince 4×4 light multirole vehicles from surplus Italy’s Army stocks.

According to the tecnodefesa.com.br, Brazil government is finalising an EUR3.8 million (USD4.4 million) contract to procure 16 Iveco VTLM Lince 4×4 light multirole vehicles in the basic version. At the same time, the cost of one armored vehicle can be about EUR170 thousand (USD196 thousand).

The negotiation between the Governments of Brazil and Italy for the acquisition of light multirole vehicles has no relation to the contract won by Iveco Vehicles of Defense of Brazil to provide more than a hundred new Lince that will be manufactured in Sete Lagoas (MG ), for the Guarani Army Strategic Program (PEE Guarani).

According to the report, the Federal Audit Court (TCU) authorized the direct purchase modality without competition because it understood the extreme urgency of this procurement, which should be available in Brazil by the end of October.

The Iveco LMV (Light Multirole Vehicle) is a 4×4 tactical vehicle developed by Iveco, and in service with several countries.

At present, the LMV is available in a number of different variants, with a range of different protection levels or none at all. These include the Medevac, NBC unit, Pick-up, RSTA and SOF. Whatever its role, the LMV will continue to fulfil its most valued function: that of transporting its crew quickly and safely on any mission they are required to undertake.

The Light Multirole Vehicle (LMV) was launched in 2006 and, from that point onwards, it has been the subject of continuous development and innovation.
