The King of Dhallywood made a comeback with another sensational hit this year. While Rajneeti has made its mark in the mind of the fans, Nabab was the film that truly reminded everyone what Shakib is capable of. Nabab splashed the box office soon after its release and was praised by many critics for its plot, cast and cinematography. Shakib's acting and striking looks had left many jaws dropped on the floor, and coupled with the success he gained from Rajneeti, it is safe to say that 2017 was a successful year for Shakib Khan.

To many, the most controversial movie of the year was Mostofa Sarwar Farooki's Doob. The controversy was fueled due to the plot's similarity with the life of our beloved writer Humayun Ahmed. The protagonist Irrfan Khan pulled off his character with charismatic acting and portrayed Javed Hasan's midlife crisis accordingly. Tisha, Rokeya Prachy and Parno Mittra played the prominent female characters and displayed impressive acting as well. Doob won the Kommersant Weekend Prize and has been nominated for the Moscow Film Festival Prize for Best Film, Director, Actor and Actress.

. . .

Taken inflation into account, the 90s top earning movies of Dhaka will have same earning as Kolkata's present top earning movies. I have seen Kolkata movies used to remake Dhaka movies that time. Time has changed now for Dhaka, due to lack of Business strategy/Market openness, shortage of trained background people/infrastructure and lack of cinema halls etc.

. . . .
More population, a large Bangladeshi population outside, didn't get any good reason why sales are less.
Most of 'movies' are garbage remakes of tamil/telegu movies; BTW, i hear tollowood (calcutta) is also facing finacial problems.
