New York (AFP) - Boeing will not deliver aircraft to Iran in light of US sanctions, effectively aborting a pair of large contracts with Iranian carriers, a Boeing spokesman said Wednesday.

"We have not delivered any aircraft to Iran, and given we no longer have a license to sell to Iran at this time, we will not be delivering any aircraft," the Boeing spokesman said.

"We did not factor the Iran orders into our order backlog either."

The announcement follows President Donald Trump's decision last month to pull the United States out of the landmark 2015 nuclear accord between Iran and major powers that had cleared the way for a relaxation of sanctions on Iran.

Boeing had previously said it would respect US policy on Iran and had pushed back the delivery dates on the Iran planes without commenting directly on deliveries.

Boeing and Airbus were among the companies to receive US Treasury licenses to begin conducting business in Iran under strict oversight after sanctions were eased.

Boeing in December 2016 announced an agreement to sell 80 aircraft valued at $16.6 billion to Iran Air. Boeing also announced a contract in April 2017 to sell Iran Aseman Airlines 30 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft for $3 billion, with purchase rights for another 30 aircraft.

Last week, a person close to the matter said engineering giant General Electric would cease all activities in Iran by November 4 and meet a 180-day deadline set by the Trump administration to exit the country.

. . .
puppets in EU have no power over US
Well there is Iran's mistake as well. They should have gone with Airbus to start with instead of Boeing. Because once the deals get signed, it is not so easy to back off and Europe has a better record as compared to US. Well in the end, Iran can get C919s from China or Embraer from Brazil.

.
they can get from china and russia at much low price

. .
once again i will say iranian planners are stupids .they should got some 40-50 A330 OR B777 used or from leasing companies so the public have to fly on safe planes rather then current 50 years old fleet. but they trusted west and USA blindly . now they have to fly same shit for next 20 years .

Boeing deal for Iran. They shouldn't have ditched the relatively reliable airbus.

No dolatio'n ki trha aapay sy bahir ho jaatay hain yeh

It was all drama... Iran was only creating ripples for the larger.... but ignorant world.
Otherwise, openly you can't smoke Marlboro in Iran.
Legally there's a ban by Iran on anything made by US, be it a screw driver!
So for the knowledgeable people it was very clear, that in order to buy Boeing...... Iran needed to make legislation to open imports of US made stuff. Which would have opened another Pandora box... details of which i'm not going spell in this discussion.

Well Iran could have bought Russian, Brazilian or now even Chinese planes, but Iran never appeared interested in improving situation of its own public.
Iran regime instead preferred to risk the life of its own citizens and continue to smuggle US made critical parts for its older Boeing fleet at 5 times its cost. how.... is another Pandora box.

.
So the US has lost billions of dollars in business revenue, and countless jobs.

Well done Trump, keep listening to your Zionist masters.

Make America great again.
