BNP lambasted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her recent comment in which she asked Khaleda Zia to leave Bangladesh and live in her “beloved” Pakistan.

The party called upon the premier this afternoon to bring a change to “politics of hatred and vindictiveness” against political arch-rivals and thus give peace a chance.

Addressing a press briefing at the party’s headquarters at Nayapaltan, BNP Spokesperson Asaduzzaman Ripon expressed his surprise that a responsible person like the premier would utter what they termed as ‘heinous speech’-- asking the BNP Chairperson [Khaleda] to go to Pakistan.

“Why she [Khaleda] would go there? Bangladesh is also the country of the BNP chief. Does not she have any contribution to the country,” Ripon, also international affairs secretary of BNP said during the briefing.

“In retaliation, we won’t ask the premier to go to India as it won’t be decent for any of us to say ill of politicians specially chiefs of political parties.”

Expressing deep concern over the suicide of a Rana Plaza garments victim, the BNP spokesperson demanded that the government publish a whitepaper on getting total assistance from different national and international sources for the Rana Plaza victims and how it was spent.
